Has anyone here used the prowler? Its a training device for building strength in your legs. Check out the links below to see it in action (im not in the vids).
I did it yesterday for the first time, 8 x 40 yrd sprints with 1 minute interval rests. This machine is savage, I thought my legs would explode after. I wasn't right for a few hours after. Im not in bad shape either. Can't wait to see the results after a few weeks of this. Let me know you experience with it.

A mate of mine makes them for me, I have given them to a few gyms and rugby clubs around Dublin. The only difference I make with them is that the they have a place in the middle (towards the front) so makes it more balanced if you are pulling it from the front instead of pushing it. With just weights at the back is lifts up too easily...

Push your car in an empty car park.

I use the prowler as part of my conditioning, it's single handedly the most torturous piece of gym equipment you could think of :D. Do even just a 30m length on a track with NO weight on it and you are wrecked afterwards. Pushing it seems hard, but its actually not the worst bit of it, its when you actually finish and stand up that your lungs feel like you have just be hit by a truck and with the amount of lactic acid build up in your legs the 'burning' sensation is unreal and your legs feel like nothing but jelly

I think its a fantastic piece of equipment, doing the prowler sprints for a while i noticed just the speed of normal sprinting increased. Cardiovascular fitness also increased alot, if you can tolerate doing set distance sprints supersetted with jogging, then you will have a decent set of lungs in no time. Builds up your legs too, id say if you were able to do the prowler with a decent weight you would have some strength in your legs and glutes.

I would rate it on top for 'exercises that would make me puke', followed by a close second with Tabata Rows :D

This kind of reminds me of the sled we use in the States for am. football training. Add some pads to ram into with your shoulder, and it's identical. Brutal piece of equipment.

Informed Performance have two prowlers and they are part of our conditioning sessions. My first few sessions i came so close to uking and hated the sight of that fcking prowler.

You see al these fitness things on TV where the ad makes working out like so easy and makes you skinny and gives you abs. The prowler is the opposite, its looks like it going to be hard and by jaysus it is. They are incredibly tough workouts but very rewarding. I have never experienced a workout like the prowler before in my life and if you are looking to fastrack your conditioning then this is what i would recommend.

Smooth driveway, no slope. What a pussy :)

Re: the weights being at the back, yeah it's a bit poxy when it lifts when you're pulling but having them at the back for the pushing means you have to get low to prevent the nose from digging when you're going uphill. In general, lower body position=better when it comes to sporting crossover.

As above, we have two. We race each other and then cry in each other's arms.

Is a prowler not just a snazzy version of a sled or is there a massive difference that the three pointed design makes?

you can....we have a sled in ul that can be pushed...

ive used slep and prowler...good sessions on them usually end in a bucket of puke..but well worth it...

They way the prowler is designed means you can get behind it and push, whereas with sleds, they tend to be small and low and you can only pull. Pushing is much harder than pulling, no arm drive... ugh. There's also a huge difference in the amount of weight you can put on, as evidenced above.

Literally everyone in our gym pushes the prowler for conditioning. I actually can't wait for the winter and the frozen driveway pushes at 10am.
