Was listening to it on Eurosport.
Go Jeannie Longo, 51 yrs old and came 10th in the women's TT, w00T!!!
Impressive showing by Jacky Bobby for the U23s. Vaughters' Tweet on his win:
And now that he's done crying during the national anthem, he's trying to get the podium girls' phone numbers...a true Aussie.

I have a few years ahead of me :) at the same time, it's sad the sport hasn't brought anyone else since her in France.... there is me I guess :P but I still have to win a handicapped race.

It is sad, but also honorable. Pas de dopage.

    Jeannie Longo-Ciprelli is my hero(ine)! She's won 1074 (?!) races!!!!

Kristen Armstrong was amazing yesterday, nice way to bow out from the sport. Wish I could average 45K/h in a TT.

MTB worlds were on a few weeks ago in Australiia. Connor McConvey represented Ireland but crashed out. The MTB marathon champs were on in Italy (I think) a little later and Ryan Sherlock and Mel Spath represented Ireland with distinction (unfunded as well I believe).

David McCann rides today in the elite TT off at 12:38 CET

Mel might have represented Germany maybe? Unless they represented the clubs rather than the countries.

Good luck to McCann this afternoon @ TT

Watching it online using vlc. A very clever programmer figured out a way for British people abroad to view British tv whilst abroad. Well that was the aim of the project. It just happens to have eurosport in high quality, well perfect quality.

pm if you want the link.

Fantastic result for McCann. Especially at 36 years old, with a less than proper international season under his belt, unlike years past.

Anyone want to comment on the astonishing negative split?

    Split 1 - 9.16km
38 David Mc Cann (Ireland) 0:00:59.84

    Split 2 - 16.6km
18 David Mc Cann (Ireland) 0:01:29.37

    Split 3 - 25.76km
13 David Mc Cann (Ireland) 0:02:11.37

    Split 4 - 33.2km
14 David Mc Cann (Ireland) 0:02:55.49

    Split 5 - 42.36km
12 David Mc Cann (Ireland) 0:03:20.26

    Final results - 49.8km
11 David Mc Cann (Ireland) 0:03:40.61

Apparently Wiggins dropped his chain at the bottom of the climb but got it back on and continued but the chain had knocked his rear brake and was rubbing. Hence the biketoss. Ever the diplomat, he had this to say to cycling news:
Prior to the mechanical issues on the final climb, Wiggins admitted that had eased off after being passed by Cancellara. He said he had felt the Swiss rider's slipstream assisted him, even if he was following at distance ruled fair by race commissares.

"I thought 'I am just going to sit up, this is no way to win the bronze.' I felt like I was cheating a bit. ...The same [thing] with Larsson, I don't think he is a worthy silver medallist. Tony Martin is a silver medallist for me."

Cancellara averaging over 51kph - I doubt I'd be able to keep up with him in my car never mind a bike....

    Thrilled for McCann. Superb performance.

    stephen roche interview

Irish legend impressed with Deignan's Vuelta

Stephen Roche won the world championship in 1987, the same year he took the Tour de France and the Giro d'Italia. After 22 years the Dubliner is looking forward to what he thinks is an important Worlds campaign for Irish riders Philip Deignan, Daniel Martin and his son Nicolas.

afaik no one in u23 road race

to qualify for it we needed points or entry (not sure) to a u23 world cup race - looks like a bit of a boo boo for CI given the u23 talent around (Bennett, Lavery)

I read somewhere(cannot find it) no Irish rider u23 was ranked high enough . Last year Dan Martins points meant we had a place.

Yes we had no points as no teams were entered in the under 23 wolrd cup events.
Pity all right as there is a good bunch around as well as Bennett and Lavery

I am still sniggering at the spectator at the barriers reaction to Wiggins dropping the bike to the ground, it was like "WTF a couple of grands worth of bike and your just dumping it there"

Was very bad luck though and he was heading for a podium place by the looks of things
