You have a cool off period with all purchases it just depends on the company as to the length of time they give, 02 have 7 days!
I joined 02 and was unhappy with my phone so I returned the phone and cancelled my contract. Only thing is just be aware 02 will not accept you again for 6 weeks after you cancel the contract with them.

Statutory cooling off periods only apply to distance buying, when you buy in a shop you have no protection. If the retailer has a policy that allows you to return the product though, you can, but that is different to the statutory cooling off period, and is at the discretion of the retailer. If O2 allows you 7 days to return the product, then go for it.
