Most physical demanding job?

I was having a debate with a friend over what was the most physical (5 day a week, hour by hour) tiring job around today.
I suggested maybe a builders labourer or someone working on trawlers.
    Can anyone else suggest others?

I was going to say those guys working on trawlers too except that's not a 5 day a week job.

Good one, hard to say isn't it.

The crowd on the deadliest catch show, they must have it worst.

4 hours sleep every day, and working in brutal freezing conditions.

But then again they can work for one month of the year and live well.

Builders do physically demanding jobs? I thought the job just involved everyone standing around looking at a hole.

Builders labourers do work pretty damn hard, generally speaking. Gonna throw farming in there, I know lots of people won't agree but there is still a good few hard working farmers out there.

Presumably a builder or medical intern doing 20 hour shifts or whatever it is.

    [QUOTE=Biggins;62178484someone working on trawlers.
    [/QUOTE]

I win. What do I get eh? Seriously though, it all depends on what type of gear a crew is using. Towing(dropping a net and dragging it along the seabed) is far less physically demanding then hauling pots or static gear (gillnets). On the big trawlers which shows such as Trawlermen focus most work is done mechanically and main work of deckhand is gutting fish. Potfishing involves much more physical work and as tragic circumstances during the week showed, possibly more dangerous.

I'd put farming as tougher then construction work.
Working on a building site isn't a 7 day a week job and doesn't involve working in the middle of the night like lambing season.

Probably working a trawler is tougher, I don't know a whole lot about it. Respect for the guys on the Deadliest Catch though!

All the U.S shows like Deadliest Catch,Ax Men,Ice Road Truckers show how tough it is over there.Employers seem to have very little worries about safety. If a truck crashes in -40 on the ice road they seem to be more worried about the environment than the driver.Life is cheap out there.

There are path maintenance guys on Ben Nevis. Every day they hike half way up the mountain, then set about laying large stones as steps etc, then hike back down. All those farmers, fishermen etc may have gruelling jobs, but they don't wander 2000 foot up a Scottish mountain twice a day to do them.

Yeah, playin' pool, drinking and Oh, saving kittens from trees can be so demanding.

No, seriously, to look at some of our Firemen, you would wonder how they even passed the medical

Unemployment. 24 hour work day, 7 days a week. Earn just 204.40 euro for all those hours and only get 10 days holidays a year. And you do all that no matter what the weather is like outside. Tough life.

    Agree with the fireman one..

There are truck drivers down here who drive the road trains from one side of Australia to the other, thats gotta be physically demanding on the body?

I did labouring one summer during college and it is by far the most tiring job I’ve ever had. It convinced me that I should work hard at college and never end up doing that for a living. Knackered by 9:30 a.m. every Monday and don’t recover until the weekend.
After that summer, I hated listening to students bitching about how difficult college is and how we deserve more money after graduating. Feck off.
College is a piece of piss and I was damn glad to have it.

I'd say special forces troopers take the cake...

for example - US Navy Seal David Goggins

    2:30am - Wake up
    3:00am - Morning run (15 - 20 miles)
    7:00am - Bath
    7:30am - Bike ride (25 miles)
    8:30am - Navy Seal training
Lunch - Lunch hour Jog (60 minutes)
    Afternoon - Navy Seal training
    19:00pm - Bike ride (25 miles)
    20:30pm - Lunch
    22:00pm - Weight workout
    23:30pm - Lights out

    Every day. Respect.

As an allied health professional, my job is physically demanding. I push around heavy equipment, lift heavy items, and lift and pull patients on mattresses. A lot of days I come home feeling like I've run a few laps and find it hard to start cooking dinners and help with homework. On the plus side though I can eat what I like and my weight stays down.

Petty Officer 1st Class Goggins is an absolute beast. He may object to being called a Special Forces Trooper though :p

Did the same myself last summer in america, very hard work but i loved it. I've worked in offices, shops etc and i have to say doing demolition work on building sites was by far the most enjoyable. I always felt tired at the end of the day but for whatever reason thats one of the things i liked about it.

As for most physically demanding job i dont really know, I think brickies labourers have it very hard lugging cinder blocks up flights of stairs all day long. But thats not to say theres not a harder physical job out there.
