belkin usb adapter problem

    hi,
    had to replace my old network adapter as i snapped it. Got the same one, belkin usb network adapter, installed new drivers from cd, all good, windows 7 finds my network ok. I try to connect windows tell me there is a problem with wireless adapter or access point.
    Now id have thought if adapter can pick up good signal that adapter is ok? I havent changed anything in my router and given that this mac connects ok router is ok.
    what do i do next?
