    Bahrain has a rich history that was later found by archaeologists. Archaeological evidence dating back to the third millennium B.C.E. indicates that the main island probably was settled by Sumerians. Around 2000 B.C.E. it was known as Dilmun where it was described as legendry Aden gardens in epic of Gilgamesh.

    A set of low denomination banknotes was introduced in 1974. The first Hutt River coins were not issued until 1976.
