151FC10060 Cascade set-point control Loop
The Off-Gas flow controller 151FC10060 is used to maintain an optimum pressure with-in the Off Gas Drum vessel 1V-5232, and is essential in maintaining the performance of the PSA. When in Cascade mode the Off Gas controller receives its set point directly from the PSA unit.
The PSA uses an internal control routine to generate the off gas flow set point, at the beginning of each blow down step. This control routine takes into account a snap shot of the current surge tank pressure and is compared to the surge tank set point and used to adjust the intermediate surge tank gas volume. The set point is further automatically adjusted to take into account for changes in the adsorption time which will have a direct effect on the amount of Off Gas produced. The final calculated volume is compared to the design flow verse the calculated Off Gas volume with-in limits and finally ramped to the DCS.
Pressure controller 152PC50471 is used to control the pressure in the Off Gas feed to 1F-1111 burners, the 152PI50471 [PV] is used in the cascade set-point algorithm to calculate changes in the intermediate surge tank volume.
Pressure controller 152PC50491 is one of four points of control that the off gas flow controller 151FC10060 uses to control the flow. When FC10060 is in cascade mode, the pressure controller is used to generate an error output based on the surge tank pressure compared to the surge tank pressure set point, in a more simplified manor to that applied by the PSA unit.
If the Off Gas flow controller is used in “DCS” mode, operating in Manual or Auto, a discrete signal is sent to the PSA controller so that its output tracks the Set point of 151FC10060, this is to ensure that when the control is switched back to the PSA via the low select block there is a bump less transfer of control.
