MAG Beta (EU) Competition

The EU PlayStation Blog has just posted an update about a competition for MAG beta codes. There are 16,000 codes to give away on a 'first come - first served' basis so get your skates on.

Literally was just about to post this, then got sidetracked trying to figure out what courier was gonna collect a broken PS3. Hope they dish these out soon enough, dont want to wait until mid week.

On the blog they said that the first batch of codes will be going out later this week.

It was easy enough to miss, as the PR guy replied to someone in the comments about the emails but didn't mention it in the blog post.

I love how SCEA have the North Americans pre-order the game/subscribe to Qore to get in on a beta, and we often get in for free.

I got into Home, LittleBigPlanet, Resistance 2, Socom: Confrontation and Fat Princess either from emails from Sony Europe or from competitions. Heh.

thanks , would have missed this, entered it anyway and will hope for the best and perhaps get the code. hopefully it will be a good game.

I'd say they got enough applicants easily within the first few hours. Expect an email between tomorrow and the 22nd with your code if you were able to enter the competition.

Didn't read the whole thread so I don't know if someone mentioned this, but it's a timed beta and I mean you can only play it at certain times during the day. Which is whenever they decide to open up the servers.

The beta will be open for six hours a day, Monday to Friday. These times are 5pm to 8pm and midnight to 3am, GMT. thats from the playstation site

I've got a code from my Qore subscription but there's a massive update I haven't got around to downloading for it yet. Still haven't got a code from the Eu Blog, I was in early enough so I should be getting one I think.

Looking at tomorrow at the very earliest to see those beta codes. They are having some serious server issues.

They're talking about a 5GB download. Lads on NeoGAF said the 2gb download took hours, so 5gb is going to be leaving the ps3 on while at work.

Also the download can't be done in the background.

I don't mind the DL size, but not being able to do it in the background? That's just a massive pain in the tits... I wonder why it can't be done?

It's because the game is upgraded with huge patches, not new versions of the beta, and as we're all familiar with, the PS3 doesn't do background download of patches. Here's hoping we have happy email inboxes soon.

Anyone put off by download size or whose internet provider won't allow them to download 5gb a month I'll very happily take the code off your hands... I've 15gb monthly allowance and have only used about 2-3gb so far... Pm me. I really, REALLY want to play M.A.G. and I actually will contribute feedback to zipper to help improve official release...

Ye I hope to see something in my inbox soon too, but there is no point sending out codes to people who are just going to go nuts by trying to get into a game that is not working.

What reason do we have to think the game isn't working? I've been following people playing it on NeoGAF and they're been playing it with no issues - not even lag.

I have noticed the PSN being a bit flakey since yesterday. This would hardly have anything to do with said MAG downloads? Internet Browsing on laptops and on the PS3 itself is fine.
Hope i get my MAG code too.....

Was reading an article saying that people who did get the codes were finding it near impossible to get into a game. Maybe that article was an exaggeration, but anyways I WANT MY CODE !

I can confirm (according to the Ops team) that everyone in all regions who registered but never received their code will be sent one over the course of tomorrow, probably by 2-3pm UK time. Furthermore, in an effort to try and do a Quantum Leap ("put right what once went wrong"), we will be sending out codes to the remaining 20,000-odd people who registered. So, if you managed to register on the site before the competition closed, I am told that you WILL get your code tomorrow (barring any network, ISP or email bounce problems that are beyond our control)".

Same here, well I wasn't one of the 1st that registered but still the lad on that forum said everyone that registered before it closed should recieve a key...I forget if I registered my 2 accounts, I just keep checking my 2 emails anyways...

MAG guys has said they're now looking into why so far 0 Irish folks aren't getting their codes (or at least 0 irish guys who complain

Apologies again, the Irish problem was an oversight. They should be winging their way to you and that should be the end of that for this phase (taking into account my advce in my previous post)
