    That's nuts!

Sorry this has absolutely nothing to do with photography but I was just reading the Guardian website when I saw this:

    http://www.guardian.co.uk/uk/2010/jul/09/paul-gascoigne-raoul-moat
Paul Gascoigne, the former England footballer, arrived in Rothbury to offer his support for Raoul Moat, the fugitive who was tonight in confrontation with armed police.

Talking to Metro Radio, the 43-year-old appeared to suggest he had brought Moat, 37, a "can of lager, some chicken, a mobile phone and something to keep warm".

Gascoigne added: "He is willing to give in now. I just want to give him some therapy and say 'come on Moaty, it's Gazza'
wtf? The quote from his agent sums it up nicely.

Gascoigne's agent, Kenny Shepherd, said: "He's doing what? I am sitting having an evening meal in Majorca. I'm speechless."

artyeva, I can't believe you are knocking the genius of the world-renowned Michael McGrath - I can only assume you are one of these "housewives" out doing weddings to collect "pin money" for yourself - PATHETIC! :D You will never appreciate his large-format OEUVRE.

almost housewife i may be [i prefer the term ''laundry assistant/chef/cleaner/taxi driver/ budget analyist/nutritionist/DIY expert BTW ;)] but at least i don't own skimpy amateurish Canon and Nikon entry-level equipment , now do i?! :p

seriously though - IS that guy for real??? i mean he even accuses some guy of ' tapping the Golden Pages'

Michael also states that he does not know how any professional could possibly offer his or her services for the slave rates as determined by the British NUJ and states that the sooner there is an Irish Union to determine Irish rates for Irish journalists who are very poorly paid on the British rate, the better ." There are working Irish journalists and photographers in Kilkenny now living in poverty ! " , he confirms , " and all the NUJ has to offer is abortion !!! "

Don't take any notice of them. They are just a bunch of puny
    Canon and Nikon shooters.

World record set for the most frequent usage of the word "Kilkenny" in a 1000 word piece, roughly 44%!

London , Dublin, Paris and Berlin : Photographer Michael McGrath is the only professional photographer to have worked outside of Kilkenny at national and international level , in Dublin, London, Paris and Berlin ./QUOTE]

So....Ummm....does that mean that every other professional photographer work strictly in Kilkenny?

This guy is a total psycho.

    ** Rant Alert **

Do we really need a new thread in the Photography forum everytime someone brings out a music video/episode of show/student film blah blah blah shot on a 5d/d90/d3s blah blah blah?

We don't get a new thread everytime someone takes a flipping photo with them, so why a new thread for everytime someone takes a video. Yes, the camera shoots moving pictures, clap clap - take it to a cinematography forum.

It's nearly as bad as someone switching to continuous holding down the shutter release @ 8fps and looking for a pat on the back that their film is *ZOMG MADE OF 9 BAZILLION STILL SHOTS!!!!!!*

    /rant

I just read this now, in my half asleep daze im starting to fear for the lives of the inhabitants of kilkenny.....not only is the website a navigational nightmare but its just insane!

I loved the part where he said
And there's a huge tip : NEVER hire a photographer who advertises himself or herself solely as a " Wedding Photographer " - the chances are that he or she never trained at all , is a housewife looking to get pin money from your wedding , or just as bad , a Digi Kid with the one Canon or Nikon Digital - and nothiing else ! WHAT IF THAT ONE CAMERA BREAKS DOWN DURING YOUR WEDDING ??? OH MY GOD ! And Digitals usually do .
A Pro like Michael has a whole cabinet full of professional large format cameras and lenses and all the equipment required, in fact a lot more than is required. A Pro like Michael does not take chances like they do .
So be sure, don't be sorry . The chances are that Michael may not be available for your wedding due to demand of ongoing professional work , but you never know, contact us and see .
And, whatever, the best of luck for a lovely wedding day .
