Washer Dryer won't stop on wash cycles

Have a Hotpoint Washer Dryer (WDD40G) - not by choice! - and as of today it just doesn't want to stop on a wash cycle. Have tried 3 different ones (normally 30, 45 and 65 mins) and all still running after 2 hours. Only way to sort it is empty the drum and then select rinse and spin.

It's still under guarantee but I'm just back from hols and can't afford the time off if I don't have to take it.

Any ideas? Manual says select a different programme

sounds like the heating element is bust -not advancing thru the programme -machine will continue to wash until water reaches desired temp and then thermo stat clicks over to next part of cycle ,not happening so i would check element first

few different but obviousl things. check the fill hoses aren't kinked at the back as this will cause a really slow fill. Also disconnect the fill hose and make sure the filter where the hose attaches to isnt clogged with any deposits.

after that theres a few other things too.

it's happenning again. Can't say if it's the same machine or a new one, had a really bad run on appliances and have replaced them all, can't remember when. Any ideas?
