Out for a lovely early morning run on the banks of the Seine.

I lived here for a while, a long time ago and had forgotten how beautiful this city is.

Looking ahead for the next 3 weeks, it will be really hit & miss on the training front, so I'm just grabbing any time that crops up.

Still, looking forward to dropping the 5am starts:)

Great to see all the posters starting to do their "A" events....

Heading to Spain tomorrow with the family, so will be restricted to running and a bit of messing around in the sea for a week or so.

Hopefully out in the (very) early am for a bike ride before heading to the airport and then just one more on my return, with one week to go.

    Getting close now...:)

....and consuming vast quantities of sangria and paella I assume :D

    Enjoy the break.

Half way through a sweltering 8 days in Spain.

Have been disciplined in getting out for 80~90 mins run each morning, albeit with a couple of testing hangovers..not least the old World Cup business...:)

Within 5 mins of my first run, the sweat was pouring down, so I quickly diverted into a cycle store (I'm in a very sleepy, dusty Spanish town, where "no hablo ingles" is de rigueur...) and came across a couple of bandanas.

While I look like a total homeboy, it is a life saver...will be definitely packing them for Zurich...have yet to reach temperatures at home where this has been an issue.

Will try to squeeze in one more 4 hour bike ride on Sunday/Monday back home (not ideal tapering, but mentally, I'll be a lot happier for it, not having been on the bike for a while) and one race distance swim before heading off next Friday.

Limited training this week, but I'm making a cracking sandcastle these days...

For someone who is supposed to be on holidays you are fairly flying up the ART challenge leaderboard. You making me feel like I haven't done enough training (which may be the case):)

Heady mixture of anticipation, dread and excitement brewing nicely:-)

My plans for the last 2 days to catch up on the bike and swim went out the window.

Got home at 5am on Sunday after a 4 hour delay, to find our house had been trashed by an un-scheduled party thrown by my sister-in-law, who robbed a set of spare keys.
In addition to wrecking the place, her scumbag "mates" managed to lift about €2K worth of stuff from the house - nice.

    In-laws, eh?

Anyways, need to park that and hopefully, get a couple of short spins and a swim done, to remind me how to do it:pac:

That must have been rather annoying! What will you do about her/them?

Yep, the show will go on. Really looking forward to your report man :)

Tape a photo of the b1tch to the handlebars of your bike. That'll give you motivation.

Best of luck this weekend. Looking forward to seeing how you get on - hopefully really well as if you have a disaster then I'm fecked as I've only done a fraction of your training:D

It may well come to that, as she's managed to avoid me so far...

Today, I ended up doing 4k in the pool and a 107k cycle, mostly fuelled by anger.

Very much anti-taper, but I felt great after it!

I'm done now on the training front.

Still stressing about the gear ratios - did a few nice hills on the spin today, but I get real nervous about any climbs called "The Beast" and "Heartbreak Hill".

As a committed granny-ring merchant, I'm hanging onto hunnymonster's "they are only long drags..."

I hope my 39-25 is enough.

That must have been rather annoying! What will you do about her/them?

The boys in blue reside about 50 mtrs from the house, but the experience so far has been underwhelming.

Ultimately, the scumbags were "invited" into the house by "the key holder", so no case there.

The main option is to go after the sister-in-law for key theft and trespass. Right now, I'm all for it, but objectively, that would create an interesting extended family dynamic:)

Might now move this to the A/R/T Off Topic thread:rolleyes:

With your missus's guilt and embarrasment over the sister now is your time to put in a pre-emptive strike for next year Izoard.

Either that piece of kit that you couldnt justify to her or next years big race is yours for the taking.

Good luck on sunday, well done on the training and I hope you have a great day

All the very best for your upcoming IM. You have done savage metres, kilometers and miles, well done on the preparation. Bring her home.

    Cheers, guys...

Just finished shoe-horning the bike into the bike bag, so ready to roll!

Irrespective of what happens on Sunday, I've really enjoyed the journey.

In what is a pretty solitary pursuit, the "Boards Tri Club" has been a great virtual support, particularly when real life mitigates against getting involved with a regular club.

Thanks for the all the support, wisdom and laughs and hopefully see you on the other side....
