It should be decent enough... I'm looking forward to ABC's other new comedies (Modern Family, Hank, the Middle) a lot more though.

Cougar Town performed strongly on its debut drawing 11.4 million viewers - hopefully it can keep the viewers for a full season

It wasn't great, but it wasn't awful. It was just meh. I'll give it another week or two before I make my mind up about it.

Courtney does show a hell of a lot of Flesh.

    Meh..

Daft decision to give Courtney the lead in a comedy like this... she's atrocious!

The majority of the cast were piss poor - Busy Philips was unfunny as feck and Christa Miller was simply playing Jordan from 'Scrubs'.

Probably the most impressive comedically was the son (who was in 'Aliens in America' if I remember correctly).. though he plays the role a bit too hyperactive at times.

I'll give it a few more episodes but like I said, I think Courtney Cox as the lead was awful.

Pretty terrible really - though I didn't think the whole premise would be that funny anyway. Not impressed with any of the new comedies so far, this one, Modern Family, Community - they all range from awful and unfunny to average at best.

    Never watched 'Dirt' unfortunately...

.. or should that be "fortunately"? ;)

I thought it was pretty decent actually. Certainly a lot funnier than the trailer let on. only criticism was that it was a bit too manic and fast paced.

I'm guessing her 10 years on a lil show called "Friends" gave her no experience with comedy at all then

Yeah.. and wasn't she a riot on that!

She was probably the weakest of the cast comedically IMO.. and there's a big difference between "being a lead" in a comedy and "being one of 6 main characters" in a comedy!

I haven't watched this show, but I don't agree that going from Monica in Friends to lead character is a big step.

Because this comes from Bill Lawarence I will give this show a chance... I really dislike Courtney Cox however so Bill will have to go all out to hold onto me! The trailer on RTE where she goes and one and two and one bla bla is awful, to me its like finger nails down the blackboard..

    Reginald,

I'm a big Scrubs / Spin City fan but this was awful!

I got through 6 episodes before quitting entirely.. Courtney Cox is just woeful in the leading role!

I will give it a chance and get back to you. But Busy Phillips is also in this, who cares about Courtney Cox?

In recent epsiodes, last 6 or 7, this show hasd really improved. At first there seemed to be to much lady talk and lack of direction for the characters. They have sorted that out now and the characters have a great dynamic and are growing thier own personalities.

Particulary the ex-husband and the neighbours husband, they steal the show.

The neighbour's husband stole the show in JJ Abram's 'Felicity' too as a gay coffee-shop owner.. but I thought he was wasted in this.. as is Christa Miller!

must check that out, when watching an episode i'm just waiting for him to get screen time, he's getting more and more with each episode......with Christa Miller kinda stepping into the background a bit.

I think whats happened here is somewhat comparable to The Simpsons, started off as a show about Bart, ratings, audience tests and reviews quickly established that Homer was the main draw and he became the focus.

Couple of great scenes with him here (the accent is irritating at first, but you get used to it):

watched the first ep tonight - found it quite funny (although why they tried to insult our intelligence by pretending that the flabby belly was CCA's was funny in itself, especially when she flashed that kid later in the show).......poor Mrs. Dr. Cox can't move her face AT ALL  - definitely will be watching next week.............discuss!

Well I'm liking it anyway, something fluffy and entertaining to while away a half hour. Loving the ex husband, I've liked him in a few things he's been in.

They're showing the first couple of episodes again tonight, so I'm finally getting to see this. I quite like it so far - it has an appreciation for just how ridiculous the whole "Cougar" thing is. This from someone who never got in to Scrubs at all. :pac:

As they are The Good Wife Directly before it. I recommend the Good Wife if you like Court Room dramas.

    No name change
Cougar Town's executive producer Bill Lawrence has revealed that he has dropped plans for a name change.

Lawrence first announced in May that he was thinking about rebranding the show and later reports claimed that a number of different titles were being considered.

However, Lawrence has now told Entertainment Weekly that he has reluctantly decided to keep the show's current name.

"I'm not changing the title," he said. "We never thought of a good new one, which kind of sucks. And when you look at the modern landscape of television, changing the title means changing your DVR and all this other stuff."

Lawrence admitted that he is still unhappy with the title but suggested that the press surrounding the possible name change will "get the message out" that the show has evolved since the pilot.

"It'll be a funny burden to have," he added. "It might be the worst-titled show of all time."

Cougar Town will return for a new season on September 22 on ABC.

But Jennifer Aniston might be coming for a visit

I thought the Halloween episode was very good. This show has definitely improved since it started. I actually like all the characters in the show now, even Grayson who I hated at first.

Busy Philipps, Christa Miller and Dan Byrd have a great chemistry on screen.

Does anyone know when the 2nd series of this starts on RTE?
    Thanks

Not the greatest episode but Busy Phillips was on top form in this episode.

It's one of those shows that even when nothing happens it's quite all right.

Sarah Chalke is headed to Cougar Town.
Sources confirm to TVLine exclusively that the Scrubs MVP is joining ABC’s wine-soaked comedy for a major arc as a love interest for Brian Van Holt’s Bobby. The gig reunites Chalke with her former Scrubs boss (and C-Town co-creator) Bill Lawrence.

So thanks to a push in the right direction from my favourite TV show Community, I decided to give this show a second chance... And man I'm glad I did...

About 9 or 10 episodes into season 1 it stops being the Cougar Town from the pilot and starts being Awesome... Very much becomes an ensemble comedy, which is good because the likes of Bobby and Andy were wasted in the early episodes...

I would strongly urge people to start watching.

Hopefully the name change for season 3 will help the show find a solid fan base...
