    what type of protein is best to use post work out? I have been told whey protein doesnt release fast enough?

    This really depends. Some people take a whey protein shake 30-45mins prior to a gym workout. So, as your working out it's being released in the body aiding the development and recovery at the same time.

    There is no problem taking whey protein before or after your workout. Taking your shake with water or juice releases it quicker than milk.

    Casein is the slow releasing protein, not whey.

    Treat everything ya hear from that person with skepticism. Whey's the most commonly used post workout protein, cos it does a damn good job.

    Would people always recommend protein shakes for muscle growth? It seems pretty much everyone I know uses it, would there be a noticeable difference to not using it?

    Not if you're eating right. Shakes only do the job if your exercise plan and diet are all up to scratch. All the shakes in the world won't do shit if the rest of the diet is crap.

    Which means eat small meals evenly spaced, don't forget your vitamins and fatty acids. I am forgetting something.......oh yeh plenty of rest.

    Not if you're eating right. Shakes only do the job if your exercise plan and diet are all up to scratch. All the shakes in the world won't do shit if the rest of the diet is crap.

    If you're getting a decent amount of protein even tho the rest of your diet is pants, once your training is on the ball you are going to make gains.

    I'm firmly of the belief that you've a better chance of training around a bad diet than dieting around bad training.

    agree, can't see how denying your body protein is going to make it better.
