Basically I'm not sure weather I should tone up or build more mass. I am quite a skinny build but not extremely skinny. I was wondering if I tone up will it be a bad idea because I want to look more muscly rather than more skinny. I'm afraid if I start doing proper cardio I will look too "boney" and skinny. Please help.

    Hi There
Basically I'm not sure weather I should tone up or build more mass.
I want to look more muscly rather than more skinny.

I think that you have pretty much answered your own question with your second statement.

My advice would be to educate your self on the subject of nutrition and a great place to start is the stickies both here and on the Diet & Nutrition forum.

There is no problem with building lean mass while keeping the addition of body fat to a minimum. This will get you both of your goals. More muscle and "Toned"

Sorry the stats probably would help. Well i'm about 5,11 and weigh about 10.4 stone. I'm using Serious Mass by ON. Don't eat much fatty foods, I get about 2500 calories a day from Serious Mass. Here is a link to my workout plan:

ok, workout looks solid enough. do you mean you are taking in 2500cal from supps alone? In theory you dont need ANY supps at all to achieve your goals! Based on your current stats your an ideal blank canvas for clean bulking - i.e. lifting heavy, eating cleanly (but a lot of food) and aiming not to gain much / any un-necessary body fat ...

    Hi Again

    I would ask

    1. How long have you been working out in the Gym
    2. How long have you been following this particular routine
    3. Can you post you a sample of your daily food intake
    • Be as specific as possible
i.e. 08:00 breakfast, Porridge, 200ml milk 2 slices of toast
    11:00 Snack, 1 apple, 20g Peanut butter, 1 tin tuna ...

    Best Regards,

    M

I'd seriously consider finding a different program if I were you. A whole day dedicated to biceps is a huge waste of time. In fact now that I look over it again its listed as an "intermediate program", from your weight and pic I'm guessing you're a beginner.

Get yourself a program where you're squatting and deadlifting every 2nd day and following that up with mainly compound exercises like bench press, DB row, pull ups/lat pulldowns, lunges, stiff leg deadlifts.

You're very light for your height - lots of good food and plenty of training will see you bulking up gradually - start light with the weights and build up, your best bet are the big moves Brian mentions above - they will give you the best response.
