We are very proud to announce the start of the next nationwide BrucePoker.com Pub/Club league. After our first League this spring went so well we have decided to run a winter league and hopefully build on what we have achieved earlier this year.
From the feedback we have got off of the players and organisers we have tweaked the league to keep up numbers for the 12 weeks as well as adding some new prizes. Here are the main points:

    • League will start on 14th September 09. It will run for 12 weeks finishing on Sunday the 6th December 09.
    • Win Professional Sponsorship
    • The person who wins the grand final will be offered a sponsorship deal with www.brucepoker.com worth €5,000 to be used during the first three months of 2010, on a 75% - 25% split in favour of the player. We would pay their entry fees into tournaments of their choice during the three months to a maximum of €5,000 with Bruce poker receiving 25% of whatever the player makes from these tournaments. The player would have to wear Bruce clothing when playing in these events. We are confident that this will be of interest to a lot of players, and should encourage them to participate in the league.
    • Estimated €60,000 Prizepool
    • We hope to have 100 participating pubs, which would mean a prize fund of €60,000. This is an estimated prize fund and will depend on the number of participating venues. We are very confident that with the success of the first pub league, that we can add to the number of venues and therefore make the prize pool even bigger.
    • There will be a GRAND FINAL played in early January 2010, (date and venue to be confirmed) where the top two points scorers in each pub/club would represent that pub/club. The winner’s being the people who have the most points from the tournaments that have taken place in that venue.
    • There will also be a THIRD SEAT from each venue, with the players having a playoff among positions 3rd to 10th to determine who gets the seat. This means that players will still have a chance of making the top ten even up to the last week of the league, and players who are in the top ten will have to try to insure they stay there.
    • Get an extra 5,000 Chip in the Grand Final Starting Stack.
    • The starting stack of the grand final is 15,000 in chips but if any player accumulates 300 points playing on BrucePoker.com during the twelve weeks of the league will then be able to start with an extra 5,000 chip. We will be listing a monthly update on BrucePoker.com of players who are playing online and how many more points they need to qualify.
    • Brucepoker will organise on-line tournaments on a weekly biases, taking place on Saturday or Sunday nights, during the twelve weeks, which would allow customers to gain league points. This would operate as if it is a virtual pub/club, the top two points scorer from the online tournaments would get a seat in the grand final.
    • The Bruce betting live tour will also be treated as one of the venues and the top twelve point’s scorers from the live tour during the twelve weeks will get a seat in the grand final. The live tour will contribute €2,400 to the prize pool. (The equivalent of four venues)
    • We would receive €50 from the prize fund of each participating venue each week, which would go towards the prize fund in the final. We will collect this on weekly biases using standing order forms, from each organiser.
    • Bruce Poker would organise the grand final and incur the expenses of it.
For all rules and information and for a list of registered venues venues please visit our league site here.

Above is a pic of the winner of our first Pub League Anthony O’Callaghan who took down the 2 day event for nearly €10,000. There were 210 runners and it was held in the Moyvalley Hotel.
BrucePoker want to encourage poker all in all corners of Ireland and hope that our Pub League will help to bring new and experienced players to local games, so if you’re playing in a pub or club that might be interested or your local is looking for something to do on a weeknight please do not hesitate in contacting us on 01-6510224 or through email on support@brucepoker.com or just pm us. We will be happy to talk to you.

Ran a couple of these last year but wont be doing so this year. the requirement for organisers to sell a €50 brucepoker voucher each night, (sit n go prize etc) isnt much good for players who dont play online and also the extra 5,000 points for playing on site disadvantages these players. However i completely understand the logic behind what you are doing and good luck with it. understand why you are doing this and good luck to ye.

    Hi,

I have been trying to get in contact with you over the last couple of weeks to say the vouchers have been scrapped for the reason you mentioned above. We brought in the 5k chip instead for 300 points over 12 weeks. Leaving it up to the players to decide for themselves, rather then making the players take a voucher. If you think that you might be interested in being part of the league again pm me or call 01-6510224. I'd be happy to talk to you either way.

    Hi,

The tournaments section of the site was taken down due to disconnections during last weekend. The cash tables continued running without problem. The MTT's and sit&go's are now back running but they are being strenuously tested as we speak. Once all tests results come back we will start rescheduling any cancelled tournaments. Also we will be adding all missed freerolls together into bigger freerolls this week.

    Regards,
    chris

    Hi,

Do you mean from this table?
    http://www.brucepoker.com/?league-table/league-listings

There is no prizes for the overall league this year to eliminate competition between venues, to counter this we have 3 people from each venue as well as the 5k sponsorship.

Right now we have 62 venues which equals to €37200. 3 players have dropped out and will not be attending, thats how I have 183 players.

We are still waiting for payment and names from a handful of venues with thursday being the cutoff point. Right now it is looking around the 40k or below mark.

We will have a complete list of venues and players in the league available on the day.

Thats a poor show as you eliminated the top 50 qualifiers from the last time to account for the third person from each venue looks like another cut back.

I would have to disagree, we learned from last year. We had to disqualify 4 venues last year as they were adding imaginary players to the tournaments to boost numbers and therefore get their players in the top 50. With this years league there is no room for cheating and we have brought in 3 from every venue. The overall league was for players to know how they are doing against all the other players.

Well personally i think its a big joke, there all cheating and adding players too make make points. Certain pubs dont even run leagues(can think of one in particular last year where the winner came from) and just pay the moeny themselves to enter.

Well your allowed your opinion, that's what boards is all about, we have listened to what players have said and disqualified anyone breaking the rules. At the end of the day we have to trust the organisers of each venue and when a player comes to us asking questions or insinuating cheating we investigate it, that's how 4 got disqualified last year. That is also why the rules have been changed this year, even if larger player numbers were put in no venue can get anything out of it other then the top 2 players and the playoff player.

Ok fair point its a shame that a minority ruins things but thats life as you can guess our venue had the winner and fourth I guess they will just have to take down the main event lol.

Its the truth about the minority. But this is life, all we can do is make it better.
