There is no doubt this will be the BIG game of the next 2 years, it's also gonna be the main FPS multiplayer.

So who will be getting it for what ??..For me it'll definitely be a PC buy

Also...anyone else getting it...do they play in clans ??...or just intend to go alone ??

Which format will you buy MW2 on ? 113 votes

    PC all the way :)

PS3 FTW. And I'll be in my [ARU] clan.

What's the big deal about COD on the PC? I found it no different from the console versions. People go on about the keyboard and mouse, but it just as easy to play with a controller.

I'm getting it for both the PC and 360, PC so that I can play it on the go!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,912 ✭✭✭SeantheMan

For me personally its to do with a mouse/keyboard for FPS.

Also given that my clan have played COD2/4 etc on PC...we will all get it for that.

Arrange friendly matches, connecting to the same server, playing in leagues, joining through xfire, use of custom maps / mods etc...make the PC the choice for me

You forgot the "I'm not buying it" option. I like COD but Activision's attiitude of we're going to charge 10 quid more for this because we know you fools will pay has made me decide not to get it.

Yeah, I'm gettin it somehow on pc, but I'm well pissed at them adding another tenner to the price. Greedy fcukers

360 and PC for me probably, esp if that host dropout feature really does work

    PC, no contest.

I'm getting the PS3 version simply because that is the platform I own.

Ps3, I'll get the hardened edition methinks. Anyone who shells out for the Prestige edition is a bit bonkers. I considered it, and then realised that after I wear the goggles in the back garden and show it to a few friends, it's going to be a very questionable dust collector on my shelf.

Cannot wait for the game though!

COD = meh for me. I view it as a console shooter even if its on pcs, the same way I view halo. Overrated hype.

Oh how I miss the bf1942 days (and its mods)

So instead, you're making the smart choice and spending 70 - 80 on a steel box.

I'd rather not have to pay for map downloads so if I get it, it'll be for the PC and probably via steam. Anyone who buys the prestige edition needs psychological help. I'll have a few PC servers going for it on launch as well.

With the original Call Of Duty included. I'll only get it if it's less than 20 more than the regular edition seeing as I found out it was in HD and has full multiplayer support

The 360 Version on Day One retail and Probably the PC Version by other means.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 34,730 ✭✭✭✭Penn

    360. I don't play PC games (only have a laptop and no desk so using a mouse is too difficult)

I own a PS3 and had COD4 on it, but more of my friends own 360s and are getting the game on that, so that pretty much chooses it for me. Online seems to run better for me on the 360 too

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,738 ✭✭✭djkeogh

It'll be the 360 for me as it's the only medium I really play on. Looking forward to it and having some good online play again. The vids look amazing for this. Shame they're hiking up the price but it will still be the top seller.

I'm surprised at myself for even considering getting this on 360, but in the end it'll be PC. I think I've just gotten lazy recently and prefer my couch to sitting upright at my PC desk.

    This.
I'll be picking up L4D2 the week before/after (whenever it's out) and will hopefully play that until the price of MW2 drops to something more reasonable.
I've never pirated a game before but the kind of sh!t activision are "testing" with MW2 makes me very tempted.

I'm surprised people would buy the game for both PC and xbox.

I will only play an FPS on the PC

I rejoined the console market recently and got myself a PS3 , played a few FPS demo's. Yes, the PC is no contest as far as I care.

I don't mind the extra tenner, since ill get more than my moneys worth for the game, but unfortunately it will send the wrong signal to other publishers/developers - "Oh look, they are raising the bar to €60, hey lets follow suit with our ****e games".

€60 for 100/200 hours of gameplay? sounds like a deal to me.

Not going to buy it due to the pricing thing. Pure, blatant greed shouldn't be rewarded.

If everyone did the same, it would very quickly go back to a sane price. Of course, that is fantasy-land stuff. In the real world they can just stick two fingers up to the world and say "you'll buy it anyway suckers, nao, hand me the keys to mai solid gold Ferrari with panda fur seats"

I also predict that otherwise law abiding citizens will go out of their way to pirate this.

    Stop embarrassing yourself.
The only reason you think it's as easy to play with a controller is because you're playing against other people holding controllers.
Hook your 360 pad up to your pc and give cod4 a whirl. That should open your eyes.

I'm well aware of the difference of playing of COD with keyboard and mouse in comparsion to controller, gameplay is ridiculously a lot faster. I don't need to open my eyes.

I'm just saying playing COD on a console is just as fun as playing on a PC IMO.

Lmao...pwnage wouldnt be the word. Something new would have to be invented for how badly you'd be beaten...even by a bog-standard mouse/keyboard player

Well there's a difference then, my mistakes but, it wasn't alot that it would make me favour one version over the other. I will be playing my 360 version more though cause most friends will have it on that.

I've played fps games from the very beginning using mouse/keyboard and can't imagine playing them any other way. I've played halo with a controller and find it just completely awful in comparison.

Having said that, I don't really understand why people get their knickers in a twist when someone says they like playing fps's on consoles. Is there some kind of competition I forgot to enter?

I don't think anyone has a problem with people playing games on whatever platform they want.
It's when people express fallacies like being able to achieve the same level of control on every platform that cause the disturbances.

PC, in fact I have it on pre-order for €27 :)

Also the fact that I don't own a console leaves me with only one choice.

Reading through some of the replies I'm very surprised at the number of people suggesting alternative means for obtaining this game on the PC.

I'm the opposite!, always played FPS on consoles. First time I played a FPS on the PC was the original Counter Strike many moons ago and it took a while to get used to a keyboard, enjoyed it eventually.

I'm just tired of hearing smug PC gamers that FPS can only be played using a PC.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,912 ✭✭✭SeantheMan

I dont think theyre saying that they can only be played on PC.

I enjoyed Bioshock more on 360 than on my PC.

I think the PC gamers prefere the PC..well for me at least, for the ability to pick and choose servers and arrange matches with other clans for leagues etc.

And the rest...i'm sure theyre waiting for the day when a decent multi platform compatible FPS is released and they get to play against the joypad lovers :P :P

We dont think that FPS's can only be played on a pc, we just think (rightly so) that the keyboard + mouse is a superior control method for said games. And so we generally prefer to stick with pc's for most FPS games.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,091 ✭✭✭Antar Bolaeisk

A place call coolshop.co.uk which was recommended to me by a few people. Seems to be wuite good despite the dodgy sounding name.

With regards to the controller vs keyboard and mouse argument I would also back keyboard and mouse for greater speed and accuracy over a controller any day. I have an xBox controller for my pc but only use it for driving games from the comfort of my bed.

Yeah that's when those debates turn into arguments. To be fair, Creggy didn't say it was better or indeed worse. He simply said it was just as easy to play, which is a different thing. After all, If a controller is in fact harder to play, that would surely mean more skill is needed to play competently. We can't have that ;)

As I used to remind my Ex - it's just as easy to swallow as it is to spit out. Things got nasty once the debate switched to which is better.
