Press-ups build cleavage?

I know that doing press-ups develops the pectoral muscles but I'm wondering to what extent. Being ever so slightly smaller on top, I'm doing them hoping to look more 'impressive' for my debs (which is on the 6th of October).

I had problems before where the muscles got swollen from over-exertion from too many press-ups, leading to frequent chest-pains, so I'm taking it about 10 a day now.

Can anyone give me any advice on this subject?

Without wishing to be crude, the only "push ups" you should be considering are push up bra's!! Or padded ones...

I can't see it doing any harm, but don't expect miracles!!

Hey, I'm just going based on what other people have told me, like a yoga instructor. No need to be snide.

Ummm I wasn't being snide so apologies if that's how it came across. You'd genuinely see a much bigger difference with a push up/padded bra!!

I don't need either a padded or push up bra. I just want to make the most of what I have, and I was told that building up pectoral muscles makes a difference. Not necessarily a huge one, but a noticeable difference. That's all I want. If someone could give me advice on this that'd be great.

There's an exercise called chest flys, which you could try at home using
simple dumbells or bottled water etc..

In a gym there's a machine for this exercise which really isolates the chest muscle group. Try three sets of eight reps of flys.
It's also worth noting that rest days between exercises are
most important. Leave the muscle time to grow for a couple of days between work-outs.

So basically press-ups ain't enough? Has to be more specialised?

You'll find changing back and foward between the two on rotation of six weeks may be the difference. Aswell though, rest more between work-out days.

I'm a bit of a n00b on this subject so could you give me some idea of what an effective schedule would be?

start working out more and your body fat levels might drop, your breasts might get smaller from losing fatty tissue there.

You can do chest exercises till the cows come home and it won't have that much of an effect. If you're small, you'll stay small and having an ex gf who was a gym addict they don't really help keeping them perky either.

They invented the aul wonder bra for a reason I suppose.

So basically all the gym bunnies say about 'working out can change your body to whatever you want it to be' is a pile of b/s? Knew it wasn't entirely true in the first place, obviously, but there's effectively no truth in it at all?

I'm no expert, I have to say. Other contributers have pointed out that this is not the most effective way to increase bust size.

That said you could try those flys eight times in a row with a weight you find challenging. Keep an eye on that guy in the video.

The idea is to increase the weight as the weeks pass. Doing eight reps by three sets every third day. Those eight reps will increase in weight over time. A bottle of partly full water is handy for this as you can just add more to it to make it heavier.
The guy in the video is doing them a certain way, this is the way they should be done no matter how heavy the weight is. Keep your form correct at all times and do them quite slowly. All the best.

*shrugs* The effect is minimal. Boobs are a fatty deposit (sigh... takes all the fun out of them describing them like that). Building up the underlying muscle will have an effect but it'll be minimal imo.

My ex at the time would have probably out benched me I was such a weakling but it didn't save her boobs. She even used to complain herself that it didn't do anything. She was big tho. I also know someone else with small boobs who works out and err.. it doesn't do much there either.

However, that's no argument not to work out so get benching :)
