Orientation will get you to know people doing your course (such as myself), you won't meet anyone going drinking instead, so yes, definitely a point.

I'd say there'd probably be some serious drinking going on that weekend though (or perhaps at the events on orientation week?)

Go to orientation or you'll have nobody to go drinking with! I had to work during orientation week last year and it made it a bit tougher to get to know people afterwards as I was joining the group a little later.

Also : GO TO ALL YOUR LECTURES AND TUTORIALS!!!! We had an obscenely large amount of fails this year in CA. Think about 35 people out of 170ish passed first time round or something.

    Good luck!

orientation is on in the morning and during the early part of the day, noone will be drinking while its on so your might as well go.

am sure you can get pissed every night though.

    Enjoy

orientation is on in the morning and during the early part of the day

Lock and key night - Monday
County/Country colours in Old Bar - Tuesday
    Orientation Ball - Wednesday
    Hypnotist - Thursday
    Céilé - Friday

    All 8 O' Clock.

That said, I have nothing to wear to orientation ball so probably won't be going to that, I'm sure there's a few other people in same situation who may go drinking with you.

    DCU Ball != Fancy Ball.

You wear whatever you feel like to them.

Ah good, will probably make all 5 then :P.

Not big into hypnotists but sure I have nothing more important to be doing on a Thursday night in a place I don't know my way around yet, with people I've never met :P.

Just because it is themed doesn't mean you have to dress up, I'm going into my 4th year, I have dressed up maybe once, probably never though.

Even if they are I assume there'd be drinks available or something, and I very much doubt that they'd be free.
