Yoga or Pilates?

I'd like to start an exercise class especially that the winter is only around the corner and was thinking maybe, yoga or pilates. I must admit I'm very unfit! Which is better, yoga or pilates or are there any other types of classes or forms of exercise that you can recommend?

Depends on what you want. Generally, I think yoga is better for flexability and destressing, Pilates is better for reducing the tummy and strengthening the core.

I agree with EileenG, It very much depends on what your looking for and personally I enjoy them both for different reasons. If your unfit as you mentioned then possibly a fusion styled class would suit, Yoga is specifically for flexiblity and mind body connection as, pilates is about balancing muscles and core strength which will have a direct result of better posture and toning across the body.

You could try the studio I go to, Jett is really helpful so maybe worth a call for a chat- pilatesplusdublin.ie.

If you still cant make up your mind I'd reckon do some pilates, it will definately help, and at least you'd have a better incite, and hopefully nearer your goal.

    good luck with it

Agree with whats been said already, really depends on what you're looking to gain.

I'd probably favour pilates myself if I was doing a class. Be careful where you go though, there's a lot of really bad teachers out there so maybe try a few out first.
