    Kilkenny winning @ H/T @ 8/15 or H/t F/T @ 10/11 are must bets.

If you think they will definitely win (i.e. you're 99% confident), I'd put half your money on it. At least you'd still have 5.5k if they lost.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,303 ✭✭✭Boxfresh

The very fact that you would have €11k under the matress just about sums it up imo

That's great advice altogether premierstone

Formergreat, if you are going to put 11grand on them make sure you shop around for the best odds. A slight difference in the odds could be the difference in a few hundred by betting in large sums like that. I've got Tipperary to win at 10/1 way back at the start of the campaign, but I do think Kilkenny will be hard to beat. Good luck whatever you do.

really 11Gs sould only be going on 4/11 when odds should should be 1/5 - IMO Kilkenny 2/5 4/11 is about right

if its money to spare i have a link to some cracking rolex watches, would get a beauty for that amount

Ladbrokes are going 4/9, if you can get it all on at that price that's a difference of around 900 squids.. I would link the store locator but I'm in work and the gambling sites are blocked.

Im guessing that 4/9 is the match betting, i think the OP is looking for outright odds hence the 4/11

There is no chance your going to get 11k down in a high street shop on this market.

In the All Ireland Hurling Final, Powers, Boyles or Lads should all bite your hand off to lay that bet.

I'd be shocked if anyone of them turned it down. It's only taking out €4k.

To be honest, Cashmans, Hacketts, PCSports would probably all take it pretty easily too. As long as it's not a UK bookie who have no real interest in business on GAA then you;d be layed a much bigger bet than 11k.

Whatever about better 4/11 shots out there (and someone else said they were available at 4/9) then betting your entire bankroll on 1 result is a sure fire way to go broke.

If you think it's value then sure bet on it, but why 11k. It sounds like it's all your case money so I would advise against it. Everybody that bets seriously should split up their betting bank and most certainly should not risk it on 1 outcome. GL.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,100 ✭✭✭Browney7

If you can afford to lose it and you are happy with the odds then go for it.
But look its an all ireland final. A one off game. Anything can happen and there is no such thing as a certainty.

If it's all your life savings and you would be devastated if it lost then don't go near it. Tipp are a proud county and won't lie down and have the forwards to trouble KK but whether or not they will remains to be seen.

Well 11grand to win four thats where i was comin up wit that figure .. Make no mistake about it im not some big shot its alot of money to me .. i think theres not much risk involved so im willing to go for it..

Risking 11k to win 4k is a very bad idea. Buy yourself an A4 or something, at least then you'll have something tangible.

Well if he thinks it's a sure thing he should go for it, but not the full 11k.

If you can get 4/9, just stick 4.5k on it for a 2k return. At least if the bet screws up you'll still have 6.5k in savings.

Note: I don't know anything about hurling.

I agree with op in that it's very hard to see anything but a kk win.
However if you do place this massive bet i hope you lose but just because i'm a tipp man.
I'll tell you one thing, if after an hour the score is close, i'll be sweating for more than one reason. Let us know either way what you decide to do and hope it works out ( that you end up backing tipp and they win ).
But i have to be honest - risking 11 to win 4 - sounds like suicide man
even though they should win, as someone else said
it's a one off and anything can happen

OP, if you can afford to lose it, go for it.

    If you can't don't.

Kk should win but you never know.

    I quite fancy kk -3 points @ 10/11.

Put you 11k on this and get 10k profit :pac:

If you can afford to lose 11k, then go for it.

    gambling is all about opinion!

I think KK will win by at least 5. this Tipp team is way too young & inexperienced.reckon occassion will get to them.Their midfield is poor & their half-forward is not physical enough, people will be shouting its a game of skill but in the white heat & intensity of croke park, men win all-irelands! tipp dont have enough of them. KK to bully them all over the field. They got KK on the hop in the league final with their intense display, but yet the still couldnt beat KK in April. KK peak 1st sunday in september.

Kk have been pressed a little more this year in the lead-up to the final, would have been better for Tipp if KK had cakewalked into the final. No chance of that happening, worst thing for Tipp was to beat Limerick so easy & everyone saying Tipp can hurl in Croke Park. they hurled against a woeful LK team that made them look good. hammering LK doesnt mean you can hurl in croker, beating KK in Croker does.

    If it wass my 11k, I'd put 9k to win 4k @ 4/9
    &
the other 2k -3pts at 10/11 (PP) Ladboookers going evens

    Best of Luck

PS if Harry Findlay was Irish I reckon he'd bet his whole bank on KK :)

    Tipp's midfield is poor?
James woodlock and shane mcgrath are poor?
    What planet you on man
They are both super hurlers who will only get better with experience

    First rule of gambling :

''only bet what you can afford to lose''

dont do it. Kilkenny should win but they've had one or two scares throughout the championship too. Arguably Galway should have beaten them. i would consider galway to be better than Tipp, but still, its a one off game and no matter how good you are you can always let your guard down...

things that could play into tipps advantage:

    1. Killkenny over confidence, believing they have it won before they even step on the field,
    2. Kilkenny going for four in a row, pressure get to them perhaps, no team has ever won four Liams in a row...

i would say dont make the bet. there's no guarantees in sport.

If you don't put the money on it and they win, you'll be annoyed for being persuaded by people on boards.ie telling you not to do it.

I really think 4.5k is a nice compromise.

Tipp havent finished with the 2 same midfielders that started a championship game this year.

"Super hurlers"......there will be no hiding place for the Tipp midfield in Croke Park this Sunday!

Personally i'm backing Tipp. Nearly 3/1 in some places isn't bad for a 2 horse race. Kilkenny have looked beatable at times this year, which they have hardly ever shown in the past few years so i think it's gonna go down to the wire. If E Kelly and N McGrath get the beating of their men, then Tipp have a super chance

Haven't Cork won four in a row?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,377 ✭✭✭Warper

I dont know. I have a sneaky feeling for Tipperary myself - I backed them at 4-1 before the semi's as they are the only team capable of beating KK. KK havnt been great this year in what has been an average year. They havnt hammered anyone - beating teams by 4-5 pts which is very un-KK like. Tipp have been leading handsomely in most matches and have fell asleep too often in the middle of games. That said they can score goals, which is the only way of beating KK. Odds of 4-11 are too short for an AI Final. 4 in a row creates pressure.

Betting heavily on 1 match can be dodgy, after all it is only 1 match - anything can happen. Betting heavily on a final can be extremely dodgy. I dont want to be sounding negative here but there are better bets out there if you are prepared to wait a season.

IMO Barcelona are nailed on to win La Liga this season and are 5-6.

I'm a tipp man but not expecting to win.
But hearing those players as been called poor really isn't true
Against limerick the half back line cleaned up all around them, therefore bypassing the midfield which resulted in so many goals. Benny dunne came on in the second half - he's a good impact sub and always keeps the scoreboard ticking
I do agree to an extent about the half forward line
the thing about callinan, kerwick and i would imagine o brien is not really that their not physical, it's that none of them are great at pulling the ball from the air.
When you compare that 3 to Sheflin, comerford and larkin it doesn't breath confidence.
Tipps only chance lies with the full back line. If they catch every ball and send it straight into the full forward line we might see a few goals too.
    May the best team win
