    Hi,
I'm fairly new to the running game - did the 10 mile run in phoenix park and intending doing the 1/2 and then the marthon. Just wondering if I should invest in an expensie pair of running shoes with this in mind - I have an asics pair and find then grand..they're a couple of years old...never get any major pains/stiffness after running.
    What ye think?

    thanks.

This would be better asked in the Athletics/running/tri forum.

Yes- proper running shoes are requires. If you intend on keeping running up you get yourself to a proper running store where you can get your gait analysed and they will be able to reccomend a type of shoe for you based on whether you pronate, suponate, are nuetral etc. Do not go to the likes of lifestyle sports etc as people their generally have no experience on how to pick a proper running shoe. Any old show WILL NOT do. I learned this the hard way whe i started to run. It only takes one second for something tiny to arise that could keep you off the roads for weeks. If you do not know your biomehanics of your legs and your shoes are years old ... off to a running store!

Be willing to spend arounf the 100euro mark for a good shoe.

Enjoy the running and best of luck in the half - ill be there too!
