Are most Bicep exercises a waste of time?

    Like Dumbell Curls?

Would you be better off just doing Pull ups and dips as part of your bicep workout?

If you want bigger biceps? No they're not a waste of time.

Not a waste of time, just oversubscribed. A man needs big biceps to attract females and intimidate other males. And let's face it, nobody ever flexed their scapula in the mirror and thought, "damn I'm hot".

    But do more pull ups.

    dips are for triceps.

pull ups (palms away from you) are for predominantly for back (lats)

chin ups (palms facing you) hit the biceps in a very good way as well as the lats

I;d recommend doing 3 sets of chins, followed by 3 sets of reverse curls, followed by 3 sets of incline DB curls to hit the Brachialis and finish off with 3 sets of hammer curls

once a month you just deliver these lines and there just amazing....

as for curls...they are not useless...in moderating... i generally throw in a few sets at the end of my bench days...

Will definetly do that but I'll have to add the old barbell curl. I'm a massive fan :)

Instead of doing basic dumbbell curls, try getting on a preacher curl bench (don't know if that's what you call them over here) and doing one armed hammer curls and concentration curls. Nice and slow, really squeezing at the top with full control up and down. The angle will take the shoulder work out of it.

Biceps are oversubscribed but don't underestimate them solely based on their vanity muscle status. They're involved in almost every free weight exercise head to toe. Strong biceps and strong forearms are a foundation for lifting.

    Recommendation:
    Single arm hammer curl - Challenging - 6 to 8 reps x 3 sets x both arms
    Single arm concentration curl - Challenging - 6/8 x 3 x 2

I suggest alternating arm to arm, exercise to exercise (meaning right arm hammer then left hammer then right concentration then left and so on) in a circuit for best effect.
