According to the view askew website Kevin Smith will be in Dublin on the 14th of October [I've been told this clashes with some important football game in Croker]

On a side note anyone else slightly annoyed that the map for the Dublin event is that of the UK and Northern Ireland and not the Republic? On the bigger map they have Belfast listed as Dublin.

then he should know that Belfast and Dublin are different cities. If you click on the USA map on the top left corner it takes you to a map of the UK and Northern Ireland and Belfast is marked as the location for the Dublin show.

    Come on...

Kept giving the guy the benefit of liking his earlier stuff and stuck with him through the years....

The law of diminshing returns applies..

His films have been getting worse and worse.Actually made me re-evaluate his older stuff and I dont think its all that great to be honest.
Yeah, great if you are 15 and you watch "Clerks" but I dunno...

Fcuking "Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back" on the other night.Steaming pile of self congratulatory fcuking sh!te...

    Birneybau,

You're clearly never seen his 'Evening With' DVD's. While you may not be a fan of his movies, he's one of the most enthralling and funny speakers I've ever watched.

He has a natural comedic ability. Not to mention the ability to make a 5 - 6 hour DVD of one man talking on stage fly by, and leave you wanting more!

I'm a fan of his.. not so much his latest films.. but as a speaker, he's absolutely superb!

Ah I'd love to go see this, but the mates absolutely hate his new stuff and refuse to come with me! Might have to go it alone, it's not everyday Kevin smith is in town, the evening with kevin smith dvd's are hilarious.

I think his last great film was Chasing Amy but, as basquille said, he's a very funny speaker and I really hope to catch this. I can't see that video clip here in work but is it his Superman Reborn story? That''s f*cking hilarious: Really? Spicolo as superman?

This guy has the worst movies but THE BEST speaches.. definitely worth going.

i LOVE this story he had regarding his treatment for a Superman reboot. I remember reading the script beforehand and thinking WTF? He's lost it. but here's the story

    And here's the script:

He;s one of he few directors who, as opposed to all my other favourites, works better as a person talking about his/her own personal veiws on life than they do from a filmmaking point of view. He may have hit a few road blocks lately as a filmmaker but as a person/character/personality he's one of the few left that gladly exposes Hollywood's glaring flaws and weaknesses!

I have the first "Evening with" DVD and I liked it and watched it in one sitting but I doubt I'd watch it again.

€40 (plus additional fees) is extortionate for a director that's a part time comedian. Dylan Moran was cheaper I think.

The Stg£ prices seem to be about £35 which is weird

...that would mean that we're not getting ripped off on the basis that it's Ireland.

Is he doing anything at any of the colleges ? I suppose it's probably too early if they're not back to business yet though.

Myself and BlitzKrieg will be there somewhere in the tables in middle. There's a bunch of boards people going if you check the thread in the comics forum....anyone interested in a meet up before or after?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,126 ✭✭✭][cEMAN**

Was this close to buying a ticket...then stopped because I had to use the money to pay bills this month. I'd f'in' love to go to this. I do actually like his films (except jersey girl).

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,034 ✭✭✭Theboinkmaster

Booked myself 2 tickets this morning can't wait

Saw him at comic con in 06 and all his "evening with" DVDs - well worth the €40 IMO.

Got 4 tickets for Row 62, cant wait! Now to find 3 other people to come with! :)

Sounds like a plan, I'll be braving this one alone as I'm the only Kevin Smith fan I know :/

    Not sold out yet right?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 993 ✭✭✭bigslick

Thanks for the code guys. Got myself some table seats. Should be great

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 34,720 ✭✭✭✭Penn

With the presale tickets, can you chose where you sit? I think I'll be going to this on my own so I'd probably prefer a seat away in the corner somewhere

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,058 ✭✭✭JJ

You can't exactly choose where you sit but you can choose which general section you'd like to sit if there are seats available in that section.

Hehe, nice news :) I've seen all of his movies. He's one of the best directors/screenwriters. See him face to face...why not?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 34,720 ✭✭✭✭Penn

I'm also heading to this on my lonesome, so if anyone else wants to meet up beforehand or even just sit together, I'd be up for that

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,426 ✭✭✭Roar

got a ticket for this yesterday in the presale (big ups to cactus col for the password!) I'm at table 104, rather freakishly right next to a friend of mine who i didn't know was going, who bought his tickets just before me!

lookign forward to it.. Kevin normally does a long stint doesn't he? like three plus hours?

although someone told me that gigs in vicar street HAVE to be over by half ten.. that's surely not true?

It's the London Q & A he did. Check out the handsome devil shaking his hand at 0:54. It's me!

I'll be at Vicar Street, even if I though Zack & Miri was only okay, and his three previous films were absolutely dire.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,005 ✭✭✭strat

Can't believe i missed this till they were sold out. Is there like only 24 seats in this place?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,788 ✭✭✭ztoical

They updated the map on the website so Ireland is actually there and Dublin is no longer marked as Belfast :D

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 34,720 ✭✭✭✭Penn

Goddammit, mate of mine now informs me that he can go, but has no ticket. Anyone know the best place to look or what the odds are of more tickets being released for this show?

Also, why the hell do Ticketmaster make you go through the whole process of picking how many tickets you want, what section, the verification code etc if the show is already sold out?

According to Smith on Twitter this morning, there are still tickets for Dublin left?

Unless Ticketmaster are only releasing a certain number of tickets at a time.. might be more on sale closer to the date.

I'd suggest posting on his board and asking him:

I wouldn't say Kevin is aware of it.. Ticketmaster are known for doing it!

Sorry to resurrect the thread, but it seems more tickets have been made available. I just bought 2 there a few minutes ago. I don't know if its because people have cancelled orders or if they just kept a few, so I don't know how many may be left
