Correct Bar Height For Deadlift?

My largest plates are 37cm in diameter and I'm just about 6ft. Is my bar high enough for correct deadlift form or do I need to raise it a bit. If I do, any suggestions on ways to raise em? I train at home so anythin goes.

Olympic plates are 450mm in diameter, so the bar should be between approx 22cm off the ground.

Rubadub mentioned something about heavy packing foam as a method of raising them earlier.

AFAIR, blue's are a little bit low. Think the red's are a bit bigger and probably right.

the reds are slightly higher off the ground yea, ive been using the blues because i thought id rather be lifting at a deficit in case i was competing

It never occurs to me to use the 25kgs plates. I might as well stick with the blues since I'm used to them.

Yes, they work great, have to get a photo of them still, did 2 sets today and love them!

    this was what I did

Have a new invention which is working well, "Deadlift Plate Buffers". Basically 2 rectangular blocks of strong packaging foam, both 14"x6"x3" Length x Width x Height. I then cut a curved slot into the foam lengthways so a weight plate can sit into it, this is about 1" deep, so now I still have about 2" of foam between the plate and the ground. I put a trigrip plate into the slot and pass my trusty webbing strap through the hole in the plate and around the foam and pull it tight. So this serves 3 purposes, stops them rolling on the ground, it raises the bar up a little higher, it is now 8.5" to the centre of the bar which I think around the recommended height. But the big advantage to me is it buffers the plates so it saves my floorboards, when touching the bottom and coming back up for a rep there is no clanking which I find allows for smoother reps. At higher weights they would probably not hold up, but you could get stronger foam, or a bigger base, and a wider slot for a few plates to go in at once.

I the past I used to put a load of blankets or pillows on the ground to cushion and raise them, but these work far better.

I reckon if you went down to the likes of powercity you could pick up some foam for nothing, these places have to accept packaging back these days, and the likes of plasmas come with decent high density foams.

Just back actually. The moved power racks messed with my head for a few days.

The other day I was squatting in the rack with the mirror that faces the pool. The other rack is now perpendicular to this so if you turn your head right you see your reflection. I was squatting in the first rack and in my peripheral vision I caught my relection in the mirror beside me. Almost as a relfex I decided to use this to my advantage and turned my head to check out my form mid squat (don't want an injury). Needless to say I completely lost balanced and nearly faceplanted with about 100kg on my back. Not my brightest moment.

    OH CHRIST!

Would be funny to see a guy stumbling back through a gym trying to stabalise his squat weight.

Anyway, since my plates are 37cm my bar would round 17 to 18cm off the ground, that aint too bad is it? I squat on hard carpet in bare feet so I am bit lower than guys wearing footwear.
