This might be a stupid question but an ice cream van is just after going by blowing its usual tune.
Now its 7.52 pm at night.
Would it be unfair in thinking this is too bloody late to be out selling their stuff?
We have just gotten the (4) young kids to bed and the next thing they hear is the Ice Cream van outside!!!

What time would you call "too late" to be going around the streets and estates, sounding off with their van music?

    nope.

hunter killer was the tank on tracks.

Was also a device used to kill someone in the Dune series of books by Frank Herbert. Later made into a film and tv series.
(First one made into a film staring Sting - it was crap, they cut absolute lumps out of it)

Well for young kids, it's night. Try explaining to a 4 year old the difference between evening and night-time.
They just look at you with a puzzled face as if to say "what the fcuk are you on about!" :pac:

    That was a hunter seeker.

The movie isn't too bad, its just too big of a story for a film.

    100%

    Your right. Me wrong. :D
    A+ for good memory. ;)

The film (with Sting) was originally a tv series but rejected so the makers cut it down and turn it into a film.
Somewhere out there is the original fuller parts on old reels.

I'd do it myself only it would be traceable back to me.
Then again if I plan it right, there might indeed be a way...

Lucky for you! Up untill I was ten or eleven I used to have to go to bed at 8pm every night. Was ****ing awful having to sit in the room in the light thinking "i'm not ****ing tired... I won't be tired for hours...", I think it's how I got my love for reading...

I think 7.30/8.00pm is a reasonable bed time for kids aged below 9 years old. Kids need sleep, loads of sleep. Especially young kids. 4 year olds are still recommended to get 12 hours sleep a night.

No point, the music those ice cream vans play is specifically designed to disable Hunter-Killers.

We're blessed, they are good kids. Well mannered, say "please" and "thank you", even "your welcome".
Even the 2 year old says it. After 7pm it becomes ma and dad time and instead of being just parents all the time, we get to be just a couple again.

9 to 10, I think is way too late for the van to be going around by the way, especially now that the night darkness is closing in more so.

Have metal baseball bat - might just use that as a substitute.
Can't take anything else out, a riot squad would be on my door in a flash! :D

You may have a case. Have a chat to the local guard about it. It would be reasonable that ice cream vans don't have their music on after dusk.

When I was about that age I'd be allowed stay up until 8:30 or 9. Those were the days...I'd naturally wake up at 7. These days, I'd begin to stir at 11 if I'm lucky (unless I have school).

Although I think 7:52 is probably on the late side (if the kids have school the next day anyway, and it's winter) it's not too late tbh.

If they stated really coming latish (9/10 o'clock) I'd go that route eventually at a push.
Times being hard, I wouldn't want to see their takings getting a further decline more so than is really necessary.
The place we live is a very quiet place and small (in home numbers) so when the van is outside, its very loud indeed.
Maybe they can turn down the volume a bit. I wonder if that is possible with those vans? Or is it just an on/off switch?

Probably having a chat with the van driver is probably the best idea so. Suggest he come round a little earlier he might oblige especially if you often buy from him. He might turn down his tune but I doubt it, seeing as the whole idea is for it to alert children to his presence. As most houses are double glazed it has to be even louder for it to achieve the effect. What would happen is he would turn it down for a day or two, see that it was affecting business and turn it back up again.

Residence committee boycott may be an option too, if he failed to be reasonable. I'm sure he would stop visiting your estate eventually if no one ever bought from him. Although I would consider this a last resort.
