Polar HR transmitter not working

I've just got a new Polar FS2 heart rate monitor as a gift. It was bought online from the Polar site and shipped from the UK.

The transmitter isn't working, I've done everything the booklet says. Ran it under the tap, it's as tight as it can possibly be around me, moved it to the left etc. Nada, it won't pick up any heart rate and nothing happens when I move the watch towards it either.

Does anyone know of a Polar supplier in Dublin where I can change the transmitter for a new one, or do I need to send it back to the UK?

Do you definitely have a pulse? Have you checked?

    Send it back.

Buy one of these instead: Nike Triax C5

The thing with Polar is even when you get it working, when the battery goes, you have to send the unit back to manufacturer = hassle.

Well I have a Garmin Forerunner 305 I got for Christmas and usually a bit of a dampening under the tap is grand to get it started, then the salt+water in sweat works best. Before you give up hope, try these solutions. First off, don't run it under the tap, they're not made for that kinda wetting, just get some water on your fingers and rub it along the sensors (work by detecting electricity that makes the heart beat, correct me if I'm wrong) until they're wet.
That fails, this should probably be the first solution but make sure it's detected by your device. Perhaps it needs to be connected? Look at your instruction manual to find out how (should have troubleshooting). Usually you have to go into some options on your watch to connect it.
Try turning the monitor around and seeing will it work with the sensors on your back.
