eircom mobile broadband

    i was onto eircom today about a customer of mine who is on a carrier



    the ericom rep told me that from the end of september everyone will be able to get eircom mobile 3g broadband, no matter where they are
    in ireland

    whats he on about?

    It's really Meteor. They have a nationwide GSM/EDGE network, they are adding nationwide 3G/HSPA or they lose the licence.

    It's not Broadband. It can drop to dialup speed or even fail to connect. It's not a viable alternative to DSL or real broadband. However save €27 a month, ditch the carrier phone line and get Mobile for phone now (02, Vodafone, Three or Meteor).

    Eircom own Meteor, so they are reselling Meteor Mobile under their own label too. If you want real broadband, get the "carrier" removed or find a Fixed Wireless Broadband solution.

    Mobile 3G is never going to be Broadband.

    thats what i was trying to do (get carrier removed), but after over 25mins ringing 1901 over and over again, that was the best i got

    thanks for the heads up yeah 3g is rubbish
