Audible Seat Belt Warning

    Here's one for the legal boffins:

    AFAIK there's a law that requires there to be some sort of audible warning in a new car - that if someone is in one of the front seats of a car and isn't wearing their seatbelt the car will "bing" or buzz.

    I can't for the life of me Google where that law is.

    Can anyone help?

    Well in 2008 EuroNCAP awarded the Dacia Sendero 0 points for seatbelt reminder. Presumably this means that the the car does not have any seatbelt reminder and therfore it is not a legal requirement in the EU.

    I think this should be taken one step further and immobilize the car until the seat belt in buckled, I have a sister who would never wear her seat belt only for this beebing thing.

    Most people who want to get around it would just plug the passenger belt into the driver's belt socket.
