Agreed! Reminds me of a girl I used know, both equally as annoying and in need of shampoo:rolleyes:

Hes just not funny, one of these Irish comedians who make a living in the UK cause they just arent funny over here.

Not a fan of him at all.

I'm more of a Michael Mcintyre fan.

man his voice goes through my head! when the panel used to be on (don't know if it still is?) he was only slightly below the token bird on the charity-laugh meter

Don't like him on tv shows like The Panel and Mock The Week but i think his stand up is very funny.

he's a knob isn't he.. not on the telly as much these days thank god, he must have been found out. Jason Byrne is even worse, the fella that does anonymous.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,420 ✭✭✭Lollipops23

He went to my school and when I was in 1st yr he came back to give an interview to the school paper (he was only just getting to be kind of well-known).

Fast forward like 7 years and he's pretty famous saying in magazines how his school never supported his comedy and hadn't invited him back:mad:

    lying bastard.

These threads never fail to bore me. OP what have you achieved in your lifetime? Seriously can we stop begrudging people who have achieved a bit of success despite whatever limitations they may have - and concentrate on hating the 18 year old girls who steal drink in night clubs! ;)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,572 ✭✭✭✭brummytom

Well I like him, can't say I'm bothered whether the OP does or not.

    But thanks for sharing

I was just watching "Live at The Apollo" on Dave Ch 111 on Sky until Ed arrived on about 5 minutes ago. Immediately switched over. Just checked and he's still on at the moment so you can tune in and see how bad he is.

He's pretty crap alright....I do think he's getting better, although he did start off from an extremely low level of funny.

Seems harmless and affable enough though. Looks like he's going to spend the rest of his life contributing to one of those '100 Best noughties reality TV show moments' type of programmes.

Jason Byrne is the person you should be complaining about.

    Frankie Boyle all the way!

Tommy Tiernan is far worse then Ed Byrne.

I prefer Frankie this series (Mock the Week) than previously, he's a bit cleaner, and funnier for me.

Tommy Tiernan used to be funny :(

I went to see tommy a couple of years ago and left after 7 minutes.

But having said that hes on radio in galway once a week and hes very funny there.

I love Frankie because there's nothing he won't say!

You're right about Tommy Tiernan, he used to be so funny. Now all he does is shout and curse. :(

I've always thought Frankie was great when he wasn't relying on the 'shock factor'. The famous 'I'm so old my pússy's haunted" about the Queen was funny, but a bit too strong for family viewing :P

I was watching Tommy's first DVD at a mates the other week, the stuff about his mate Declan doing a marathon with Ethiopians was great.. his new stuff, I mean, duck sex.. wtf?!

Michael McIntyre's probably my favourite atm, though I know that's a bit cliché :P

The duck sex thing was the only part of that dvd which i found funny tbh. I mean his impresssion of a duck was uncanny! :p
Frankie Boyle can go too far, especially that joke he made about Richard Hammond after his crash.
My favourite comedians would probably be Dylan Moran and Bill Bailey, never seen Michael McIntyre but I'll keep a look out!
Oops sorry for goin all comedy forum!

Dylan Moran and Dara O'Briain are the only funny Irish comedians.

Anybody who disagrees is stupid because I am always right and everything I say is 100% fact

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,473 ✭✭✭✭Super-Rush

Ed Byrne is actually pretty funny on MTW but his stand up is awful.

    Dylan Moron is sh1te

It was the best bit.. which says it all :P The impression was spot on, I'll give him that.
Yeah, though I did laugh at Frankie's Richard Hammond joke :o

I've got Dylan Moran's shows on my iPod - Like, Totally and Monster.. they're really, really good.
Bill Bailey's the best standup I've saw live, followed by Dara O'Briain.
Bill and Dylan work really well together in Black Books.

Yeah keep an eye out for Michael Mcintyre, not to everyone's taste but lots of people (including me) really like him.

Shít, I didn't even know there was a comedy forum!

Ah, but it wasn't so much the joke being funny as the fact it was read out on newsnight.

Ed Byrne's one of those comedians that you'd find funny if he was your friend and worked in Spar but as a proper stand-up and tv comedian it doesn't work...

brummytom thats the thing bout Frankie Boyle, ya laugh at the offensive things he says regardless! ;) It just can't be helped!

Oh and Black Books should be on tv a lot more, its such a funny show and such few people have actually seen it!

It's the same as many great comedies. Nobody I know has seen Garth Marenghi's Darkplace and it's one of the best comedy series ever made imo :(

    I've seen it. :D

I have never seen any of Ed Byrnes stand up shows so I can't comment on them, however I have seen him on those topical news programmes like Mock the week, Panel etc and he is quite poor on them, but not the worst. Thats not to say hes a bad comic though. It takes a special type of comedian to be fast and witty enough to come out with something funny when put on the spot. Paul Merton is the only person I can think of that can do it well and sometimes even his jokes fall flat.

So unless you've seen Byrnes stand up (his bread and butter) it would be unfair to say hes not funny, but you can say hes rubbish at improv.

I love the 'One Track Lover' song and video. Also the rant about Scotland.

On topic, I've been told I look like Ed Byrne :(
