Is there any news about whether this show got picked up?

Its an irish take on 'the hills' called SoCo Dublin.

    http://www.independent.ie/entertainment/tv-radio/the-hills-are-alive
    in-like-south-dublin-1844617.html

Was talking to a girl who is on it (she's stunning, naturally) and she said the pilot was really good.

Its been filming in the likes of Krytal etc

    Anyone know its status yet?

I heard that it miraculously avoided the axe after a mysterious benefactor known only as "RichardD Hills4life" has come forward to bankroll the project :pac:

Oh dear gods, I hope this isn't real. There's quite enough brain-dead TV out there already.

    This will NEVER work

in America, these braindead losers are worshipped.

In Ireland, they'll just have crap thrown at them and jokes shouted at them

Won't matter it'll just be edited out and replaced with aerial views over Grafton St and... the other side of Grafton Street. It will probably be mixed with a backing track of popular, Irish grown, pop music.

    Typical Episode:

Finbar: "Yeah, loike, I know roish, totally"
Saoirse: "She was loike oh my gawd and I was loike yaw haw and she was loike oh my gawd"

*cut to aerial panning shot of BT2, blend in music*

lyrics: "Gotta let me in, hey, hey, hey, Let the fun begiiiiin... heeeeeeey, I'm the wolf today, hey, hey, hey... I'll huff... I'll puff... I'll huff I'll puff and blow you away..."

True, true. The minute this show airs (though I'm hoping it never will), the people won't be able to leave their houses for fear of the public (i.e. me) throwing bricks at them in the street...

    Or Snow Patrol.

This is the kind of show they should have done 5 years ago, when these kind of people could be tolerated, as could the wasting of money, but now it'll go down like a lead balloon with the viewers. Just look at the backlash RTE took for re-airing the "Young, Irish and Rich" show recently.

The temptation for the producers to pitch the main person as someone to dislike would be too great. I can't imagine a show like this where the producers would have the cop on to do something original and have the lead pitched as likable. We're a nation of begrudges (we like making fun of the D4 people....remember that TV3 Debs docu-soap.)

The show would last longer if the lead was likable with everyone else around her being the opposite.....but like I said, Irish producers can't resist the temptation of taking the p*ss out of their reality tv stars.

It's being made by RTE, the Americans are hardly going to see it.

Not sure where you heard that.

David Coffey is producing it and pitching it to the networks, RTE have yet to buy anything.

    Mtv are supposedly interested.

David Coffey, yet another reason not to watch.

Oh please God no! I dealt with Shireen McDonagh through college. That was fun (not!) so can't imagine what she'd be like on this. Or any of the others for that matter. Let's all pray this never sees the light of day. There must be better things they can make a TV show out of! Like drying paint or something?!

This is an excellent example of how to construct an unbelievably bad article.

"And every single Valley Girl sentence is punctuated with the word Like, as in "I am soooooo, like, over Chad/Brad/ Brody/Jordan, right now!""

That is possibly the worst sentence I've ever seen in published print.

Er... I thought it was old news but you do know The Hills was staged?

I've spoken to a few people about this, apparently the 'stars' are being offered less than €300 per day which means roughly €7k for the series. (not alot if you consider how the mere mortals may react when we see them out in public throwing curry chips at em' on harcourt st!) They've offered to move those still living with their parents into a city centre apartment so doesn't seem to be very true to life. They haven't finished casting but due to start filming end of September. Personally I cant wait, I know it'll flop and be mortifying but I cant wait to see how they do it!

I have no idea. The characters they play are constructed and may not bear any similarity to their real-life counterparts.

Hang on, I thought The Hills WAS set in South Dublin??
