    Hi everyone,

Im going to start a course in oct as a fitness instructor and personal trainer, at a meeting i found out that the personal trainer cert only lasts 2 years and was told that I could do a course and become an acsm (american college of sports medicine) personal trainer after the two years are up. Has anyone heard of acsm? If so is it a lifetime cert or will I have to do it again after so many years?

    Thank you! :)

    Hi There

I am not a personal trainer, I work in IT. However I would think that as with IT certs, as the fitness industry is always moving, new discoveries being made and old beliefs being re-evaluated and maybe modified or dropped, then for any certification in the fitness industry you woudl need to recert every so often so that you keep up to date with what is current.

I also have to do this recertification in my chosen field if I wish to remain employable.

    Just my 2 cents worth.

    Best Regards,

    M
