Bricky here building a bench and wall out of bricks with a nice finish on them. Problem is I dont know wheither to box off the foundation to get it level then pour the concrete? Or should I just pour it into the excavated foundation and level it out then (This would be more appealing to me). But how do I level the foundation over a long length (I don't have a laser level)

Pour the foundation and lay a course of block work making sure to keep it below ground level. You can then build your Wall level off it.

9" depth by 3 times the wall thickness is your dig,
you neeed a spirit level and some pegs about 18" long,
    |As you dig, place the first peg in the trench with 9" showing,
dig on and check that your dig is 9" below your peg,
place another peg in about 6ft from the first and so on,
when finished pour concrete to level of all pegs and give a good tamp.
should be level enough to start blockwork.
