    Hi guy's

How do I work out roughly how much I am taking on board every day ?
I eat out for lunch - so I can't generally weight food before I eat it.

    Many thanks
    Rob

    these are average guidelines

    2500calories a day for men
2000 calories a day for women, more if pregnant
1800 calories a day for children aged 5-10

this will vary as you may have active lifestyle or sedentary
    your muscle mass etc.. height...

its hard for anyone on this to guess your recommended calorie intake..

you should google it and type in your body details to a test to get an accurate result.

Digital scales + nutritional information on the packet (or online resources). I found that to be the only reliable way. After a while you kinda stop needing it.

    Check out www.fitday.com

Input your food and drink intake. You can get breakdown by fats/carbs/protein, calories in, calories out through sport, etc.

What sort of things are you eating, is it in pubs etc. You usually get big portions when out, so online estimators can be low. You would not believe the ridiculously low estimates some weightwatcher pages quote for chinese takeaways.

You have to learn to eyeball it, I can probably get within 20% of calories by just looking at plates of food.

If you are buying rolls etc in spar they usually have scales in the store and you can try and work it out yourself.

    Hi Rob

You first post highlights that you eat out for lunch and this seems to be the biggest problem you have in working out your daily calorie intake.

Therefore is it not possible that you make your own lunch and bering it in with you? That way you can work out your daily calories plus you know exactly what you are eating.

    Best Regards,

    M
