So basically this women gets a load of rats and puts drugs on them and forces them to exercise and then comes to the conclusion that people who run may get withdrawl symptoms like that of a heroin addict.

    What a retard.

I'm an ultra runner and had been working in the addiction field for the past 12 years, I have always had someting on the back burner in my mind about "complusive and obsessive" exercise as I think there are some psychlogical comparsions. The same can be noted with extreme sports.

I'm familiar enough with the drug in question, but that article makes no sense to me. I would like to see the orginal though. To the OP hope you don't mind I'm going to link this to the A/R/T forum.

Cheers, there are quite a few ultra runners there, it should make an interesting discussion.

Aww but exercise is my only legal high. :( Guess I'll have to turn to harder stuff now...

Really though, I'd say this is rare. If I'm lazy, I'd still need alot of willpower to go for a jog, even though I know I'll feel good after.

To quote the old dude out of Spirit of the Marathon or whatever it's called, the only high I ever get is when I stop running.

However in work a girl came up to me and showed me the article and agreed. But then I truthfully consider her to have minor genuine mental issues that she masks in some respect by excessive gym use.

Is she nuts cos she goes to the gym, or does she go to the gym cos she's nuts?
