    Hey,

Just saw there is a mod chip being tested for the PS3 so was wondering if people might think it was real or fake. Personally I think it is real and hope so. And also it is perfect timing with the release of the PS3 slim which some people would be keep to backup there old phat PS3's and use a mod chip.

Anyways here is the following article and website:

    http://www.hotfeeder.com/technology/rumor_belzar_a_fullpledge_direct_boot_ps3_modchip_incoming_2035278

    i dont believe it,
and if it were possible, you'd probably use up your monthly download limit in trying to download one blu ray game,
you'd want a blu ray burner to burn them
its bs imo and wouldnt be worth the hassle

Who started calling old PS3's Phat PS3's? is PHAT an acronym of something?

That's if you have a download cap. Besides, most of games on the PSN don't come close to filling a DVD, let alone a Bluray disc.

I would be interested for multi region Bluray playback.

Do you mean for movies or for games? ... It is multi region for games! What do you want thats region locked?

EDIT: Also i havent spent over €20 for games in a while bought heavenly sword there recently dirt cheap like not much need to pirate these days. Bit pissed at something like fat princess being €15 tho

As playback is not a word used for games it is movies that I was on about.

    whats the point
i have a cfw on my psp but thats more for Convenience of not having a load of umd with me
but for a home console its pointless when a large part of games are play out online

Why would you play CoD on a console in the first place :P

1 . The website doesn't even have a crappy camera youtube video of it working.
2 . Would you risk opening up your PS3 to solder a chip to the board ?
    3 . Actually point 1 is invalid http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JgPzXCHs6p0

    Still wouldnt risk that !!!

On closer inspection these are loafers, damn fake video
    Point 1 is valid again

i for one think that ps3 games are good value for money, i get a good few hours playing any new game i get and games like fiffa on psn have permanant allure playing online, piracy kills budgets for game development and puts it into awkward anti-piracy measures (steam for fm 09- for example) so i think i'd rather this is untrue

Because ive never had a PC that games actually work on ! ;)

    It's fake,

Founded since 2000 but their website's been registered since 17/08/09 - go figure.

Off-topic: Most releases are region-free anyway.

On-topic: Whether it works or not [which I doubt], I don't really care as I wouldn't be making use of it.

Then get one :P, seriously CoD on a PC is so much better than on console :P( I got CoD4 for xbox and it was so bad, like its hard to make an already bad game worse but playing it on xbox or playstation did just that)

Every broadband service has a download cap. If your downloading ISO's to burn to bluray which you'd probably need for this instead of downloading an optimised version like they have on the store then it will be the size of a bluray. Of course it may support playing content from the hard drive which might get around that but I doubt it would although it might eventually. Probably trying to get it out the door just working at all.

Probably around 25GBs for some games which is 5GB's short of my download cap for the month lol.

Don't know if it works or not, I'm sure my little brother will find out :)

That's true but some Blurays I have I had to buy at a higher price here because the American versions were locked to Region A players.

If i could i would but having no money means im stuck with what i have, i prefer the consoles anyway way too many serious nerds on the PC. They do take themselves far to seriously.

I prefer the likes of cod better on ps3 tbh...Maybe thats because I have been playing FPS games on consoles alot longer than on PC's...

I wish they released CSS on PS3 :p I love that game on PC, but aint played in a year or 2 :( Don't have a good PC to play...

I don't have a download cap either, I'm on UPC.

But there are fair usage agreements, I you download 2 or 3 full PS3 games in a month, I'm sure alarm bells will start ringing.

If ever a modchip does come out for a PS3 I wouldn't have a problem installing it. Don't think this one is true though.

A fair usage agreement is a cap you don't know. You'll find out if you download Bluray movies and games in ISO format what the cap is :D

I've heard UPC have an unofficial cap of 250GB.
