I think i'm repeating First year, so i'll be with you guys most likely.
The course is class, i absolutely love it.
You just have to put the effort in, which i didn't last year.
You get to build a PC in first year too which is the most fun ever.
I don't need to repeat that module,
but if i'm repeating the year i'm going to do it again cause it's so fun :]
    Haha.

    You're timetable is here: http://webtimetables.dit.ie/TTSuiteRBLIVE/
    User Name: Student Science
    Password: Science
You'll get a hard copy on your registration day anyway though.
And here's the Academic Calendar: http://www.dit.ie/services/academic/calendar/
You's will be in on some day during the week of the 14th.
Depending on the day they're registering DT211.

    Hope that helps :]

guys can I ask a question? When will we pay the fees? On the registration day? 16th is it? You know the bank giro paper states that payment must reach their bank by Sept 15. I am confused.

i've seen on my bank giro that they've given me till the 16th to pay , i'm going into 3rd year and i find it a hassle paying by giro , i'm paying by laser this year , but if you do that make sure you save the conformation e-mail they send you , because you will need to prove to the people in the office that you paid before they hand over your ID card ,

For your first few months expect the pace of work to be really slow, but after Christmas they really pile on the work with assignments, so be prepared.

Oh and a word of advice , KEEP up with your programming practicals(you may think that missing one isn't a big deal but everything you learn is going to come up in the either the final exam or the final assignment) because before you know it your being told to make a pretty large program for an assignment thats worth around 20% for the final mark

just a heads up keep an eye on the timetables online..as they keeping changing for this course

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,190 ✭✭✭wolfric

    indeed.
Just to clarify as it was rather messy to start off with. There are 2 websites for us. Both use your student number and your password is your dob (for example if i was born 1 feb on 1990 it'd be 01021990)
    http://mydit.dit.ie
Mostly just email and tabs/links to other useful areas. You're able to change your password here and even set up accessibility to other accounts (although unfortunately not provide auto forwarding to your current email. You'll need to click mail up the top right and then options. You can find it under "Retrieve Other E-mail" You can look up the pop (usually) address for your basic services (such as gmail, hotmail, yahoo etc) online with google.

(Your student "control panel") If you just click one of the links from the course list you'll get the whole control panel down the side which involves all your assignments announcements notes progress through the year. There's even a profile page listing instructors and students in your year. Features for a editing your profile are also included. As far as i know there's a second email here that is limited to people on your course.

*For any of you already in the know about security, webcourses site does not encrypt their connection when you're logging in. This means basically that someone on the network can sniff out your credentials. Mydit does though but still not when entering passwords for other emails when setting up your account to retrieve other email (such as your yahoo email)
