Thanks a lot Stone Roses. I have my collection up on Yakface.com, and I'm on there as Darth Wolven. The Sandcrawler is the most expensive item in my collection, it cost me 300 euro back in 2002, and the Imperial Shuttle is the second most expensive item costing 250 with the box. I'd also love to see your collection.:) I also decided to stick my collection up on youtube, unfortunately I have'nt received much comments or ratings at the moment, but only time will tell.;)

Very nice stuff you have. Did you buy the new Millennium Faclon by any chance? It's really excellent and a vast improvement over the original Kenner version. I posted a thread on the new Falcon, but unfortunately I've got no replies on it so far.

Circa 1999 - one of those cardboards with plastic holder glued to it and the toy inside. Baker's signature is on the cardboard.

Thanks Stone Roses, none of my stuff is for sale, it's just of my hobbies that I enjoy. I love my Sandcrawler, even if it's not to scale it's still great. I wonder how many people over here own one?

Really nice post OP, I enjoyed that. Great collection and well done.

Don't have a collection of this sort myself (born too late perhaps :P) but I'd really like to see a few more pics of what some of you guys have lying around. I've all the books on the novels timeline alright, but nothing as cool as this.

Well done again OP, and anyone else with some collectibles they are particularly proud of stick them up!!

Thanks a million evil monkey. I only started collecting the Star Wars stuff in 1996, with just a couple of the POTF2 figures and some 12" figures as well. My collection only really started to really grow as recently as 2007. But I'm starting to seriously run out of space now, because I have a small room.

Here's my collection so far - started about 3 years ago and just aiming for a full collection of c9-10 loose figures (think there's about 97 plus maybe jabba and max rebo band). Have 2 carded but only bought them cheap to get the c10 figure.

The most difficult one for me to find so far has been luke stormtrooper - so many of them have coloured limbs which don't match the body and i'd like an all white one, will probably cost me though.

You have a great collection there. I have most of those figures except for the AT ST driver, Poncho Luke, Weeqay, Death Star Gunner and the A - Wing Pilot. It must have cost you quite a bit for those figures, especially for Prune Face and the A - Wing Pilot. I bought Luke Stormtrooper back in 2003, and he cost me €120 which was a lot to pay at the time. The most expensive figure I've bought since then is Yak Face, he cost €95. I'm just short of a couple of the last 17 figures, so hopefully I'll be able to get them all sometime.:)

hi master that display look excellent ,like the way you have them displayed , a-wing pilot carded i dont have him myself do have luke stromtrooper, this may hurt some vinatge fans but i got him on a c6 card and opened it up for my loose collection of figures so its mint! still have the card back, why dont you try get a c4 or 5 card and take him of your sure to get it mint no yellowing on the figure,

i have some vintage for sale i may have a stromtrooper i can take a look
if you like , iknow i have a few last 17 for sale anyway!!

but keep it up vintage star wars collecting is a great hobby and investment, keeps me out of the pub!!! lol :-)

    Hi,

I have been think of collecting the vintage Star Wars figures again. I had hundreds of figures years ago as a kid and it hurts when I see how much they go for now, if only I kept hold of them :(

Anyway, nothing I can do about that now.

Can any of you point me in the right direction where I could find some for sale and what I should start of with

Also what does the C9 etc mean, I was on a US site called Bryantoys and it had C7 C9 etc, have no clue what that means.

I dont care about condition really, to start of with anyway, I just wanted to build up a nice collection and display.

    Thank for any help
    Dave

I know that Dermot has a shop down in wicklow town that specializes in lots of Star Wars toys, both old and new. It's actually quite easy to find. If you go down the M50 south heading towards Wexford, and keep on going until you see a sign for Rathnew, and turn in for that sign, go straight through the roundabout. Keep on going straight through that road, making sure you pass by Tescos and lydil, and you'll soon end up in the town itself. Dermot's shop is on the right hand side, and it's called Directors Cut.

C9 as far as I know means in truly excellent condition and C7 means great condition or something similar. Another example would be from C1 condition, which would mean it's in terrible shape and C10 means that it's sealed in the box and it was never opened since it was purchased back in the day.

The vintage Star Wars figures are about €10 to 15 for most of the Empire range and Return of The Jedi figures. The figures for a New Hope may be a bit dearer at about €20 to €30 per figure, but again in depends on the condition. Boxed figures are much more expensive and are definitely out of my league and most other peoples. Some of them are priced from a reasonible €50 to 200 or 300.

I hope this info helps you.:)

No problem. He has quite few vintage figures, both on display and some in bags. Dermot is away on holidays at the moment, but if you ask the girl or guy behind the counter they'll get out the figures that are in the bags for you to have a look at. The figures in the bags normaly range from again €10 to €15 and a little bit more for the A New Hope figures.

He also has lot of Star Wars vehicles both old and new, but especially old. There are also a lot Saga figures from 2006, few Revenge of The Sith and some of the New Hope Legacy figures as well. Before you go down I'd make sure to bring quite a bit of money or whatever you can afford. I just hope you don't have a problem finding it. If you do drive, or if someone is driving you down make sure you keep an eye out for that sign for Rathnew and you should be alright. :)

I hope I can find it too. Im going to bring as much money as the other half will let me :D she's the boss in the house.

Ebay is your friend - these are 3 sellers I use all the time and they are excellent. I can vouch 100% for them as have used them all many times, also they have nearly perfect feedback ratings:

    http://stores.shop.ebay.com/Bluesnagmans-Vintage-Star-Wars-Toys__W0QQ_armrsZ1

    http://stores.shop.ebay.com/Bluesnagmans-Vintage-Star-Wars-Toys__W0QQ_armrsZ1

    http://stores.shop.ebay.com/SAUSAGEFINGERSFORDY-TRI-LOGO-STORE__W0QQ_armrsZ1

prices are the going rates, usually much cheaper than any bricks n mortar shops around the world

whatever you do don't use bryanstoys they are well-known rip-off merchants.

have a look over at vintage section of forums at rebelscum.com

If you look at my collection above - they're all c9-c10 figures (nearly perfect) and they actually were all bough quite cheap, about €10-30 each.

The expensive ones are known as "last 17" and were the last 17 produced around 1985 - some of them are €200-300.

But a full c9-10 collection will set you back €1,000-€1,500 for the 97 figures I'd imagine.

    Best of luck!!

hey thanks for the feedback. That's actually just a temporary display to photograph them for insurance but they're all actually tucked away in baggies in boxes (in dark, cool area of course!). once i get a bigger house etc i plan to display them properly..

the luke stormtrooper is going to be the tough one but patience will serve me well i hope :)

thanks for offer of buying but hobby a bit on hold now, just recessionary saving for now!!

When looking on ebay the description says "This is a C9.5 loose complete Jawa with a repro weapon"

So that means the condition is very good right? What does repro weapon mean, does that mean its not the correct weapon?

    Thanks

Hi, I was just wondering what other stuff does he sell in the shop?, is it mainly only Star Wars?, I am starting to collect film figures - Star Wars, LOTR, Evil Dead, Hellraiser etc etc.. and I was wondering would he stock them?, looking for different pieces and not the usual fare you would get in Forbidden Planet!.. thanks!

Yes condition is almost perfect but "repro" weapon means reproduction ie a replica and not the original.

Also you'll find a complete figure list on www.rebelscum.com

    Hi,

Does anyone collet the newer starwars figures, the ones you an get in symths etc, are these worth collecting or is it just the vintage ones that you guys collect?

I collect both old and new figures. But I'm incredibly fussy as well. I only love original trilogy and some prequel figures that are neutrally posed, and also if they have cloth/soft goods as well. Symths are incredibly slow:mad: as far as new figures are concerened. I'm really really sick of going in and hoping that they might have the new legacy ESB wave, but instead all they have are those aweful animated Clone Wars:mad: and the Saga Legends figures. I have all those Saga Legends figures as well such as the VOTC Chewbacca, ROTS Anakin, ROTS Obi Wan and the truly excellent bendable knees C3P0.

Here is a picture of the Degobah X-Wing that I bought from Dermot's shop down in Wicklow:

    http://i164.photobucket.com/albums/u22/FOTN/Star%20Wars/DSCF5091.jpg

Here's a comparison shot with the old X-Wing to show the difference in size and scale:

That X-wing looks really nice. The difference between the old and new is amazing, nice size and better detail.

I think because Im just starting to collect star wars I might just pickup what I like the look of as well as the vintage stuff.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 763 ✭✭✭Nephilim Wolf

Dermot may be getting that X- Wing in again, but it seems to be very hard to get these days. He has a lot of other great stuff at the moment like the V-Wing Fighter, General Grievious Ship, AT -AT Walkers, New Imperial Shuttle and vintage Shuttle, Big Wing Tie Fighters, vintage Millennium Falcon and lots of other ships/vehicles. He also has a lot of new figures in like the Legacy figures in the ANH and ESB range and loads of saga figures as well.:)
