I have downloaded motivational hypnosis MP3s in the past, for a couple of quid. The problem with me though is that I would need another download to hypnotise myself to have enough motivation to keep listening to the first download.

Still, I do plan on using them again. If nothing else, I find them relaxing when going to sleep at night.

Big money to get done one to one- if your motivated enough to go and find and do a potentially unrewarding thing like hypnosis-then you're motivated enough to strive for your fitness goals with umpteen rewards in your life!

Go to your local library and see if they have any suitable CDs in stock. If not, ask them to order one for you. Try it and see.

Not something I would have ever thought of before, but a guy in work went to a hypnotist the other week to help stop smoking.

Cost him €300 but he hasn't smoked since.

I was intrigued to be honest, he says can't remember a thing, felt like he slept for 12 hours but was only there for 2.

I have had hypnosis done to stop smoking - didn't work (but at the time I didn;t really want to give up ).

I have also had it done for fear of flying and that did work as far as I can tell ( well I'm not afraid to fly any more ) - so I think it may well work for some stuff.

thanks for all the advice guys - but has anybody tried it ?

I don't see how it would be any different to what you've done already.

20 people on here could say it works, doesn't mean it will work for you, you won't know unless you try.

Alright enough of this- Why would you want this done? I mean its demotivating in itself to KNOW you had to be actually Hypnotised to get you to train???
Save your money and give yourself a kick up the arse-once you start the hard parts over!

If you can afford to drop 300 quid on hypnosis then surely you can afford to hire a personnal trainer for at least a month. Then surely they could help you get motivated and (if they are any good) you will learn lots more about lifting weights/diets/etc. To be honest cause I pay soo much for each session with the PT that I go to, that itself really motivates me!

We're not all members of a gym you know, the sport I am looking to train harder for is not covered by PT's or gym's. I appreciate you point and the post though, thanks.

I have gotten stuff from hypnosisdownloads.com. I am sure there must be free stuff floating around as well.

I would suggest going for some motivational books. The quality of training for Hypnotherapists in Ireland is very poor in my opinion. Also as a psychotherapist interested in the fitness area, I just wouldn't let a hypnotherapist near me or a family member.

It not fitness related but do a search on the psychology forum, there are a few discussions on hypnotherapy there.

+1 on the personal trainer Idea, if you get a well know one, one who comes with a good rep, like transform who posts on here, tell him you are having motivational issues, im sure he will bust your chops for a hell of a lot cheaper :pac:

    Hi everyone,

I use hypnosis to help my clients achieve their health and fitness goals.

I am a Sports Science graduate and have years of personal training experience.

I got into hypnosis because I wanted to find out to help people who knew what they should be doing, but weren't taking the necessary actions (i.e. healthy eating & regular exercise).

Whatever your habits are, they are the things you do every day unconsciously, without deliberate, conscious thought of what you're doing. Since hypnosis involves communication with the unconscious mind, it enables you to change and modify your habits.

As a result, you're more able to do all of the things you need to do, without any need for willpower or conscious effort.

If anyone has any questions about hypnosis, I'd be delighted to answer them. My website also has lots of articles on hypnosis -> www.weight-loss-hypnosis-and-more.com

    Cheers,

    Paul
