hey op, I know its not very helpful but you WONT get a decent motorised one for that money .. even the manual ones would be more than that (if you want to get something half decent that wont break down if you use if for more than 10 mins a day!!

€200! get a decent pair of runners and go outside. If you want to workout at home and have fat loss as a goal (rather than specfically running) then I would recommend getting a set of weights, or chinup bar or gymnastic rings.

Lots you can do at home with minimal equipment, check out www.simplefit.org

Don't mean to sound smart but "fit" to do what?

i.e. I take fit to mean "I am fit to do a specific job", strength training is very useful in daily life. Also you can use lighter weights or high rep bodywieght exercises like squats which are more like a cross of cardio & resistance. A treadmill takes up a lot of room and (for me) it would get boring quite quickly.

I do resistance training in my room and watch (or listen) to TV during it. I also cycle everywhere I can, including work.

i want to gain a good level of fitness in general - not sure how else i can explain that? thing is - the treadmill was the only thing i enjoyed while i was in the gym so hence the thought of buying one, not sure what to do now, i do salsa about three times a week and walk everywhere when i can too, thanks for the advice though, appreiciate it

200e is going to be a very expensive clothes hangar.

Buy runners, go outside. It's much MUCH more fun.

would a stationary bike be an option at all? you could probably pick one up within that budget and there is a lot less to go wrong with them .. If you already walk a fair bit then some other machine may be better than a treadmill, just to mix it up a bit!!
