    Hey,

I was doing an exercise today and I was getting some clicking/popping noise from the joint between my leg and hip. The exercise was for lower abs where you lie on your back on the ground, feet 1ft of the ground and alternate bringing each knee close to your chest//rib cage. I wonder is this usual? it wasnt sore but off putting

    thanks

i can't answer specifically on your joint but i get similar noises from my knees. I went to physio and she said if there is no pain that it's not a prob, in my case she said it was prob excess fluid (she had a fancy unspellable name for that fluid).

On another note I did jujustu with a nurse who recommend evening primrose oil for the clicking and it did reduce it quite a lot.

Although I take omega 3,6,9 oil now instead (udos) while the clicking hasn't return bar the v.occasional times.

I don't know if this is any help but I find when my diet is lacking in fruit & veg, my knees get soar and tend to click alot.

I often hear my bones cracking when standing up from a seated position. I don't think its anything major to worry about i.e arthritis. You might consider taking a Glucosamine and Chonditrin ( I think thats what its called) supplement. Its supposed to help with strengthening the ligaments in the body

    It's called "popping hip syndrome".

the general rule from what I have looked at through college modules in anatomy is that if it doesn't hurt, you are ok - if it hurts, you need to get it looked at.

I have it in my knees and ankles, where I need to click them.

in joints, the synovial fluid between them has gas that builds up - when you crack the joints, you are moving the joint in or out and bursting the bubble of gas in the synovial fluid.

if it's the boney part of your hip that the noise is coming from, it might be your IT Band snapping over that part,

it's called snapping hip syndrome i think or poopping hip syndrome as someone else said

for me it got sorer and sorer the more it happened, my physio recommened i get a foam roller and roll up and down side ways on my upper/outer leg but that didn't solve mine

your gym might have one, even if this isn't the solution foam rolling isn't going to make it worse, and maybe it'll make it better
