As a sportsman he would rank with any of all time greats in any sport, To make a come back and prove him self again in the toughest sports in the world is outstanding .
in the early days of his career i would say most professional cyclists cut a fine line with regard to banned substances.no more that any sport back then.

his foundation has helped many and will do for years to come ,he is using his high profile to promote awareness of some thing that "WILL" affect one of three of us reading this.

like him or not thats down to you ,personally i did not miss a stage of this years tour de france because i was so keen to see how he was going.im looking forward to see him friday .

He is a inspiration to all and hope to many.

This is where my otherwise complete man-love of Lance* starts to come apart at the seams. It is completely illogical to suggest that something that kills one in three people needs awareness raising. Believe it or not, cancer fundraising was hugely successful before Lance, and would be without him. AFAIK it consumes a absolutely enormous amount of money from (in no particular order) private donations, pharma R&D budgets and taxpayer money. This is all good. But with LiveStrong, cancer research fundraising has become (for me, and possibly others) intertwined with one man's enormous and unstoppable ego.

Lance, I understand the fact that you want your testicle back, but can you just shut the f***k up about it and let me enjoy the cycling without constantly reminding me of the high probability that one day my cells will revolt and I'll die in miserable pain tugging on a morphine drip?

There, I've said it. And breathe...

    * ok, that bit isn't true

Relax it's only a third of us who'll die from cancer, heart disease gets a third as well the the rest get "other causes".
From my angle (leaving the cycling aside) Livestrong is a fabulous resorce for sufferers and medic's as well as a prolific funder of research.

It not going to happen of course, but hey, what's wrong with dreaming.

The money for "curing" cancer will never come from the government, it will come from the drugs companies. We will only see a cure when someone can make a profit off it.

General anti usa chip on the shoulder against them in Ireland. They may be fat but at least they are positive people in general. Look what the europeans bring to us when they visit. One coffee between them, spend nothing and moan about everything. I deal with holiday makers and find the Americans decent people. A lot of the italian, spanish are sooooo negative. People get mixed up with confidence and arrogance.

So, you have a problem with people who have a problem with USAnians, because you don't like "Europeans". Riiight. FWIW the only place I've been that loves the US more than Ireland is the US.

Anyway, this has nothing to do with Lance, since no-one (in any of the anti-Lance posts I've read here) has criticized his nationality.

    I'm out.

This is very true, the Italians and particularly Spanish are doped up to the eyeballs and they don't even have the common decency to try to cure cancer while they are at it! And don't get me started on the Kazakhs. Go Lance! I am SO feckin excited right now.

just a question.? is every blood sample in there in DNA profile stored. it can be tested at any stage when the technology comes of available.

No Dna testing not yet done routinely. The samples have been stored since 2008 but before that not in a way that would result in a legally binding format (research only).
The 1999 samples that L'equipe are so fond of have no legal standing. This is because they are all B samples (the A's having been declared negative).
You need both an A and a B test to be negative unless the athlete 'fesses up after the A sample fails.
It seems a technicality but is there to provide the athlete with a degree of protection form contamination or poorly tested samples.
