Great...it'd be more informative if they did a survey of how much cheaper/more expensive argos IRL is than it's competitors in the irish market.

The study was carried out by a professor of Computer Sciences

Now, I'm not trying to knock anyone here, but does it really take a 'professor of Computer Sciences' to figure this out? I mean.. I noticed this long, long ago, and I'm pretty sure 95% of the country have noticed it, too.

I reckon I'd make a good professor of Computer Sciences.

... is €159.99. However, it was only €124.99 in the previous cataloge. Therefore, Argos aren't really helping me 'live for less'.

I think my title will be, 'Professor of Consumer Investigations and Conversion Sciences'. You can all call me 'Doctor of Consumanomics' for short.

ive been aware of argos rippin off irish customers for sometime now, it seams they arnt giving the propper conversion rate&somethimes the discounted items are less or non existent on the same items that u would see on argos.co.uk,... ive noticed the same with some other shops such as schuh.ie i guess they think were still all loaded...not

Plus their silly delivery charges (€7.50 in Co. Dublin and €29.50 elsewhere)push the prices up even further again.
They used to do free delivery inside an area which was similar to the 01 telephone area. I live one mile outside Co. Dublin. They won't bend the rules just a little and I find now that it's just not worth it anymore.

Wife looked at the new catalogue and 4 things we bought in argos last year had all gone up by a good amount. One wardrobe (which wasn't on offer) had gone up by nearly 10%.

    Cheeky buggers

yeah that wrecks my head, but if u have an auntie or someone whos in the 7.50e cachment area u can always get them to drop to their house, they ususally ring when ther on their way, u could pop up&pick the stuff up in a car, obvously this only works for certain things, if its a big item then ull prob need their van anyway, but argos are dopey they wouldnt let u do a store pick up for a desktop pc...thats so silly i walked out of dunnes with one in a trolly a few years ago

To be fair he did it in his spare time and posted it on his blog. The Indo picked up on it later.

There's a big difference between picking one single example and doing an exhaustive comparison of 12,000 products. Anecdotes and "everybody noticing" something doesn't really cut it.

It's a very useful survey. Interesting that Argos haven't commented on it yet.
