I started this thread for discussion as the tournament progresses. The other thread was more about tips.
Good drives at the first two holes by Harrington, he looks very focused. Woods with a bogey at the first to drop back to -4 tied with Harrington for the lead.

Poor stuff at the 7th from Harrington after a sweet drive. He's still well positioned though at two off the lead.

Have sky dropped that plonker Bruce Critchley from their golf team? A great move if so.

Think he had some heart problems a couple of weeks ago.

Have a horrible feeling he's starting to lose it... Lucky to save par on the last (7th) and only a lucky bounce just now to kick him back on the green on the 8th - not very promising. Hope I'm wrong though.

Goin good for Podge at the 10th - but I get nervous everytime I see the water! - although it won't be a problem :/

    Tiger frustrated there.

    Shot!

People who shout "Get in the hole!!!" should all be killed. It's so annoying :(.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,006 ✭✭✭WithCheesePlease

Ever wonder if Woods get as sick of the ridiculous shouts form the US crowds as the rest of us do?!

Best so far today on a long par 5 miliseconds after he's teed off - "GET IN THE HOLE". Then, on the same shot as the ball is trickling down the fairway (still on first shot on par 5) - "IN THE HOLE". Drives me mad.

Great to see Harrington has bounced back.......brilliant.

Poulter, Fisher, Westwood, Rory and Graeme all doing well too.

The sky sports feed is really starting to grate with the pro American bias toward Tiger Woods - they keep asking "is this over?"

i remember the 1st time i heard 'you're the man' and it was when nick faldo was winning a major around 87

Rory quietly sneaking up at -2.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 6,543 ✭✭✭JerryHandbag

Seems like Sky are cutting for ads every 10 mins....infuriating

My god Ross Fisher is turning into some player...3rd major in a row now that he is contending for.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,472 ✭✭✭stockdam

    You're the man Ross (sorry)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,951 ✭✭✭SuprSi

Harrington really throwing it away at the moment, all over the place. That 2nd shot on the par 5 was woeful. He needs to get back into the zone.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,472 ✭✭✭stockdam

    Woods and Fisher -5
Harrington, Singh, Jones, Glover, Westwood -3
    Poulter, Rory, Quiros -2

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,472 ✭✭✭stockdam

    Rory at -3.........:)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,566 ✭✭✭✭fullstop

Harrington crumbling, be lucky to finish under par at this stage.

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 8,632 ✭✭✭darkman2

Throwing it away atm. Another bogey coming up...

Fisher makes his first bogey to go to -4. Tiger leads by 1.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,472 ✭✭✭stockdam

Rory in water at 16 but may still make par.....nope back to -2.

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 8,632 ✭✭✭darkman2

Harrington at best will par 14 but I suspect another bogey is on the cards. Easiest hole aswell.

BTW would the commentators please commentate. They keep talking about Tiger Woods. Annoying.

EDIT - Nice shot actually. Harrington back to 3 under?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,472 ✭✭✭stockdam

    Harrington back up to -3
Woods moves to -6 and isn't making any mistakes.......looking ominous.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,472 ✭✭✭stockdam

Suddenly everyone is falling apart....all except Woods.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,951 ✭✭✭SuprSi

And Harrington misses another fairway. He needs to get into the clubhouse and sort his head out before he falls out of contention.

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 8,632 ✭✭✭darkman2

    What a shot by Harrington!!!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,951 ✭✭✭SuprSi

Wow, what a shot by Harrington.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,416 ✭✭✭Jimmy Iovine

    Some shot from Harrington there

Great shot out of the bunker, thought the rough would have stopped it but got a nice bounce. :)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,472 ✭✭✭stockdam

301 yards from the sand for Harrington!!!!!!......putting for Eagle.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,566 ✭✭✭✭fullstop

    FFS Rory.

    Awesome by Harrington

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,472 ✭✭✭stockdam

Rory undoes all his good work and drops 3 shots in 2 holes to go to even.

He's the kind of player who could have a streak tomorrow but he needs to stop making poor shots.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,951 ✭✭✭SuprSi

    Ohh!! So close...

    Did he get it?

Harrington missed eagle putt, very close, but made his birdie. Tiger got his birdie to move to -7 and Padraig at -4 with 3 to play.

That would have been an incredible putt - just a tiny bit too much pace. How close was that? He gets that and it's Tiger v Harrington on Saturday - Harrington needs to be with Tiger over the weekend to maintain the pace. If he does not screw up at least he will be with Tiger tomorrow.

Lads I wouldn't be very knowledgeable when it comes to golf but I like the sport and have been watching USPGA Championship. Woods with another Birdie, I'm thinking of throwing €100 on him at 4/11, do ye think that would be a safe bet at this stage!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 6,543 ✭✭✭JerryHandbag

Anyone starting to think this is already shaping up to be a battle for runner up spot? Tiger by 3, prob be 4 or 5 by end of day...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,472 ✭✭✭stockdam

Hard luck Rory....nearly chipped in. Even par.......he'll have a good round tomorrow.

Yeah he's looking pretty good at the moment. There's still a lot of golf to go, but if he keeps playing this way it's his.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,472 ✭✭✭stockdam

Woods doesn't make many mistakes so to me it's hard to see anyone coming close to him.

Two days left tbh and golf is a fragile game. It's nowhere near over! It's just they are on the 3 easiest holes made for birdies.

Nice to see a bridge named after the great Payne Stewart.

LOL @ Kaymer. "Rory, he's a youngster and there were a lot of cute little girls out there today"

absolutely not, he is about those odds to win but it's not worth risking the money for that return imo. Anything can happen in golf with 2 days to go.

Westwood moves to -4 with birdie on 15, Harrington and Woods on the green at 16.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,472 ✭✭✭stockdam

Hopefully Harrington, Westwood, Fisher or Rory can move up on Woods. However they have all had bad runs whereas Woods just grinds on and even when he plays a loose shot he recovers with a good chip or putt.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 36,634 ✭✭✭✭Ruu_Old

Birdie for Tiger, now at -8. Par for Harrington, stays at -4.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,566 ✭✭✭✭fullstop

And that's the tournament as good as over
