How do you become a mod?

How are ya picked? Are all the members names put into a big hat and pulled out? Is nepotism involved? Do ya have to be an IT geek? Do the admins search around the streets of Dublin for the biggest eejits and make them mods?* Do tell..... *only messin', yere not big eejits, yere little ones.....
