Has anyone tips on how to maximise their clubcard points - can't find anything on the tesco.ie website!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,632 ✭✭✭✭okidoki987

There is a new offer for Clown Around in Co Offaly if that's any help ;)
Don't forget these are NEW offers only and are additional to the existing ones which I'm sure are ample for the people from the country.

U can maximize club card points by getting a tesco club card earn points when it's used in store like normal and on any purchases made outside store!

Its a while since Tesco ran any "25% back in vouchers on all TV's or electrical appliances". Are these offers all gone. They were a great way to accumulate vouchers.

You mean a tesco credit card. With the credit card you get 1 point per €2 charged to it.

They have an new offer for Siblu holidays, camping and mobile homes europe mostly which would be good if the 25% back in points ever arose again.

25% back in vouchers on all TV's or electrical appliances

Was thinking that myself last week.
I would have thought they could have had one for the summer but maybe
they are waiting for pre Christmas to stop people going North?
With the credit card you get 1 point per €2 charged to it.

Might be wrong but I think you get 1 per €1 if it's used in a Tesco Store.
also available, 10 euro - 40 euro stenaline vouchers
Possibly more interest in Irish Ferries returning to the offers, cheap trip to France next year.

    haven't received them yet!

Expiry is usually 6 months from the time of ordering. If you find that you won't use them in time, you can send them back and get the vouchers changed back.

Thanks for that alanjob - don't think I'd have them used within the 6months so probably won't bother with them.

In addition to that, each type of voucher has a code being with a "letter" such as 'R'. Any vouchers starting with a certain letter can be used with any offer beginning with that letter. For instance I have used hotel vouchers in Leisureplex as they both have codes beginning with 'R'.

The tesco website or the brouchure you receive with the vouchers lists all the codes.

    That's brilliant!
How does it work valuewise (for the vouchers I mean) though?

Not sure what you mean exactly. A €10 voucher (which cost €2.50 in Tesco tokens) is worth €10 according to the deal rules as specified on the tesco site or the brochure.

If you mean is it better value to use your tokens for Hotels/Leisureplex/Xtravision, well that depends on loads of things? On some deals, the vouchers can only be used on full priced things (such as hotels, can't be used on weekend offers etc). On some deals, you use your vouchers like money. For instance, an hour bowling at the weekend is the same in euro or vouchers as there is rarely a deal.

Its really up to you as to what you'd use them for and where the value lies. For me, I get good value from Hotels & Leisureplex. Some use them on the ferries and restaurants and find good value there.

Sorry, I knew I hadn't put that clearly. What I'm trying to say is say I get the Xtravision vouchers and they each give one rental, if I use them for something else does it count as €4.75 (or however much a new release rental is ... shows you how long since I rented a dvd:o)?

No idea. Give them a buzz. I doubt they would be valued in euro.

Am looking to subscribe to the National Geographic €9.50 in vouchers for an annual subscription + a free fleece. Anyone do this before, is the fleece any good?
Are there any better deals with clubcard deals these days?

The newest catalogue can be viewed here: http://www.tesco.ie/clubcarddeals/dealsbrochure.htm

A few new things in it. One should be arrving with the latest vouchers around now

Sending off my Tesco clubcard points....but they ask for a "STAMPED ADDRESSED ENVELOPE" to be enclosed. I'm sending them to the uk address so an Irish stamp won't work for Tesco to post vouchers to me from UK !!!!!! What does everyone else do ?

Dont think their is another way. Its a 80cent stamp both ways. You could forget to send a SAE and they might pay the postage across for you :pac:

Does anyone know, with the insomnia vouchers for €10 - can you get change / a voucher back if you only spend €5 say, or do you have to use it all in one go?

All in one go, and they come in vouchers for €10. Would need to be 2 people using them.

Davy, thanks for reply...I'd be happy to use an 80c stamp...but it looks like I need a UK STAMP .Royal Mail don't allow Irish stamps ??

Just forget the SAE. Just fill out the online form, dont think it mentions a sae form

Thanks Davy, just looked up that info you posted. In the "About Clubcard deals" section on "how to order" ...it's all there about stamps !!!!!
    3. ......"remembering to affix an international stamp and airmail sticker"....
Since its impossible to buy a Uk stamp in the post office and an airmail sticker would only be required for letters posted in the uk its a bit of a puzzle !

Regarding the Insomnia vouchers, in my printed copy of the Clubcard offers it had a note that they had to be ordered and used in the next month or so - I assume that means Insomnia are opting out of the scheme.

Just found it online by googling: http://www.tesco.ie/clubcarddeals/restaurants.html

    Token type: Insomnia
    Category: Café
Location: 31 stores. Locations: Dublin, Cork and Galway
    Suitable for: Adult/Child
    Product code: R1101

PLEASE NOTE THAT YOU MUST HAVE USED YOUR INSOMNIA DEALS TOKENS AT INSOMNIA STORES BY 31ST MARCH 2010

Did anyone book a hotel break recently - There are great value breaks out there at the moment - I take it you would be paying the advertised rate through the tesco deals - Ie. No special offers -

I wouldn't bother using them with the hotels, you have to pay 'rack rate' so you don't get any of the deals going. Ordered the hotel vouchers myself last year and regretted it.
Best value might be in restaurant vouchers?

+1 but a word of warning though.
Dante's & Milano's will not give you any specials offers if you use the vouchers to pay.
Example Dante's have a current offer, main course & either starter or desert for €12.50 but if you pay with clubcard vouchers they charge you full menu price, also can't use them for drinks only food.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 127 ✭✭newbridgemom

agree about hotels. saved vouchers for ages because i thought i would get a good deal on hotel. called selecthotels.ireland and they informed me they go by the full-rate when booking tesco deals. this is €159 for a standard double room. the same room online is €95.
the meals, days out and magazine subscriptions are much better deals!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,247 ✭✭✭leex

I have claimed Tesco clubcard deals on 3 occasions - never sent a Stamped addressed envelope with the application. The text on the form is a reminder to put a stamp on the actual letter you post to them.

I want to use my vouchers for an Irish Ferries booking.

If I go and make the booking as standard (without using Tesco vouchers I mean), it costs €311. If I use the vouchers, it costs €341.

    Not pleased.

    Why not?
You're paying 1/4 the price in vouchers for the same cost in cash so
if the voucher cost is €341 that gives you €1364 worth or goods or if the vouchers gives you €341 in goods, they have only cost you €85.25.
That's good deal in my opinion even if it is "costing" you an extra €30.

Yes I know. I still think it's cheeky that they whack €30 on top of the usual price if paying (even in part) using Tesco vouchers.

It's like going to Argos, getting to the tills and the cashier saying "oh, you're paying with gift vouchers? That's an extra €5 then please" (relatively speaking).

I have experienced the same thing with TGI Friday's. They will not allow you to use Tesco Club Card Vouchers on specials.

as with the Hotels mentioned earlier in the thread, if you are using the clubcard vouchers you have to pay full rate. Irish Ferries give various discounts for booking in advance and over the web etc, you don't get these with the vouchers as (presumably) Tesco are not giving IF the full amount of the vouchers back.

If you only have a small amount of vouchers and the fare is quite high, the extra price might cancel out the value of using the vouchers. On the other hand I've just paid for nearly all my €1k+ fare this summer with clubcard points, so I'm not complaining.

I stayed at the Carlton Millrace in Bunclody on clubcard vouchers a few months ago. Had to pay the rack rate, which was quite expensive (but still great value with the 4 for 1 tokens). Also, they have some blackout periods, so you mightn't get availability on bank holiday weekends.

The fleece is sorta crappy, it looks better in the picture than it actually is.
The magazine on the other hand is well worth the 10 euro in vouchers, the normal price of a subscription is just under 30 euro normally, i subscribe to it myself

I've got that subscription with club card vouchers. The magazine is good. The fleece not so good.
(Actually, when I sent my vouchers off the offer was a wall map of the world, not a fleece - I was none to pleased when the fleece arrived)
