Brogan McKay - Too much too young?

    Hi Girls,

Just wondering if anybody read an article in Closer magazine this week about an 11 year old girl called Brogan McKay. She also appeared on GMTV this morning.

    Here's a link:

    http://www.dailymail.co.uk/femail/ar...d-Britain.html

The jist of it is that she's an 11 year old girl who dreams of being a porn star or a page 3 girl and her mom is encouraging her every step of the way. The pictures in Closer were of her lying on a bed wearing a leopard print jacket, pink knickers and leg warmers with her legs spread. There was another of her sucking a lollipop wearing shades and hotpants. When asked if she feared paedophiles looking at or endangering her daughter, her mom replied 'I am but she'd go mad if I told her to cover up'.

I was sickened reading the article and evn more sickened this morning to learn that she has nail extensions, hair extensions, Jordan is her role model, she gets a weekly spray tan done, she wears only designer labels and carries only designer bags. The shoes she was wearing on the show cost 400 pound sterling and as a growing girl she will obviously not even have them for long. They were Jimmy Choo shoes.

Her mom said she's not worried about Brogan not learning the value of money or being spolit because once she hits 18 she'll be rich and famous as a glamour model and will eventually be a Playboy Bunny (that's the ultimate goal). She also said she'll buy her boob implants if she turns out flat chested.

What do you guys think of this? I think it's really sad to open up the world of sexuality and materialism to a child so young. Her innocence and childhood can never be bought or relived again and it's clear to me the mom just sees her as a meal ticket. They also have another daughter who gets nothing as she's 'not interested' in designer things. How convenient!!

I just think it's ludicrous. She is a beautiful little girl too, an absolute stunner who shouldn't be plastered in make up and leather pants.

Do you think this is acceptable or a form of child abuse?

The weird thing is though, chances are she will hit 18, bear her t*ts in the Sun and make a mint. She'll probably end up as a well off glamour model with a footballer boyfriend and life will all be rosy. I hope that doesn't sound like I think all glamour models are brainless bimbos who shag footballers but you know I what I mean. I wouldn't exactly have high academic hopes for this kid.

I just find it really sad and think the mom must have a screw or ten loose..

It's not abuse, it neglect. As for you prediction about her future, I think you're well wrong. How many porn stars do you know who've made it, see this documentary for what the life is like.

    Yikes.

Her parents admit they have no savings, a combined income of 30,000 sterling for a family of four and they throw away their money like that? In this economy????

Almost wanted to laugh at the photo of the kid wearing the denim jacket with the words 'rich' on the back of it - but it's also very sad. And, deluded.

Why is it that the people who don't really have that much spare cash spend it on bling like that? There's probably families that live in the same area, in a house, not a flat like the brogans (not knocking living in a flat, the article i saw mentions that they could have bought a house for all the money they've wasted on the child), with jobs bringing in a lot more money and their kids wearing ordinary clothes because the parents are saving, looking after their pensions and preparing for any financial emergencies - instead of dreaming of their children becoming famous page 3 girls?

Heaven help any friends and family in that child's future - she's obviously never heard the word 'no' and it's going to be a shock when she moves away from her parents.

    Link's not working for me.

Is this the same girl from a BBC3 documentary a few months back?

My prediction wasn't that she'd be a porn star, it was that she'd become a glamour model or page 3 girl. Her dream is to become a porn star or a Playboy Bunny. I'm under no illusions that porn stars live the life of reilly so please don't misquote me in a condescending manner.

    No it's a different girl.

This is like a wet dream for the Daily Mail.

Oh yes, she was on GMTV this morning.

She was wearing Jimmy Choos, sparkly jacket (they made sure to point out it was high street) and she had perfectly applied make-up and nails. She's 11! Jeeez.

I doubt that child actually realises that being a glamour model involves getting her boobs out at auditions and then that's no guarantee of even securing a modelling job; it is a grotty rung in the sex industry. It is so sad to think that her parents want that life for her - it isn't all about OK Covers and A-list parties.

Basically, I just think the parents are ****ing idiots.

    WOW!
I still played with Barbies when I was eleven! That is really sad, I feel sorry for her 'cause she is actually wasting away her childhood, wishing she was an adult.

Alison first started colouring Brogan’s hair when she was three - pink wash-out highlights to match her pink designer Moschino dress, for a party at the nursery. And with matching nail extensions, of course.
‘Then, when she was about six, her blonde hair started to go a bit dull, so I put in some permanent highlights to brighten it up and it looked lovely. She liked it so much she kept asking to go lighter and lighter,’ says Alison.
Wtf? The child's hair is going to be falling out by the time she's 25

and bringing her to tanning sessions? I guess the hair won't matter by the time she has cancer from it
That's really bad, seriously. I'd be tempted to yell negligent parenting, in some kind of weird twisted way

That's just wrong. Her parents deserve a good dose of reality. Supporting your daughters dreams is one thing dressing her like that is just wrong on so many levels.

The article said she was dressed head to toe in Designer labels, too bad she was wearing very little below her waist.

The government should take the kids away for their own wellbeing. Simply put, they are unfit parents.

How the hell does this girl even know what porn is?

    Morons...
And what about the other kid? She'll either act out against the parents for their favoritism or she'll be the same.

The other daughter dodged a bullet bigtime by "not being interested in" designer whatsits. Crazy, crazy parents.

What I found most disturbing were the pictures of her with puckered lips.
Like she is trying to emulate what she percieves as sexy but she is still just alittle kid so it looks extremely odd and she can't quite grasp the concept and rightly so.

The parents have to be money hungry to some extent they can see if she goes down the road of glamour modelling etc there could be money in it.

Why tell her to study when she can just turn up and look pretty,it is like they are grooming her for that life.

She gets a visa topped up with 400e a month for shopping, god it is sickening what sort of person will she grow up in to!

It's bad parenting. It's akin to parents letting their kids eat anything and everything that makes them feel good and they become obese kids. The parents are trying to do what they think is right, and can't see how bad they are doing and the damage they are doing. The kid will rebel later on in life when she has a midlife crisis and can look back on her life and think for herself. I really hope she doesn't go down the glamor model/porno route. She looks way older than an 11 year old, she could pass for a 14 year old easily. I'd say she'll be looking like an 18 year old within 2 years.

Let her be a model, Porn Star or WAG, there will still be one thing that they haven't sorted out about her...She will be the only model to exist to sound like Rab C. Nesbitt :P ... I didn't see elocution lessons mentioned anywhere!

    She's 11!
She's like this now, but once she hits the rebel age, she'll be a b|tch used to a €400 visa...

I'm lost for words.... How could anyone do this to their child and not think of consequences? Besides being a spoilt fucker, she'll have no hair and quite possibly will have skin cancer before she's 30 with all the hair dye and tanning beds

Burbury dummies? WTF WERE THEY THINKING!?!?!?

How the **** is that relevant?

Poor kid. Her parents are doing so wrong by her - if she ever ends up in a difficult position, she will be equipped with absolutely nothing to cope. Her parents have taken all that away.

Probably an obnoxious child now but none of that is her fault... :(

I'm sorry how does she even have this idea of porn being an amazing industry to begin with??? SHE'S 11!!! Sounds like her parents shouldn't be allowed have children.

And as for her response to paedophiles? She obviously doesn't give a **** otherwise she would be telling her to cover up. MY god..the world has gone mental. And who publishes photos like that of an 11 year old?!?!?!?!? Ihaven't looked at them truthfully but teh description of the loepard print thing is enough to turn my stomach. She's a bloody child.

    Spoilt......neglected more like.

If my child was behaving like that I've give her a swift kick up the arse.
Who the hell gives an 11 year old child a credit card...I'm 19 and I don't even trust myself with one!

To be quite honest, if the father was getting her to do those photos, he'd be locked away, and be marked as a sex offender...

My God, you're all so jealous :pac::P

The parents probably don't have a lot of money to spend on themselves so they filter it into their daughter to give the illusion that they are wealthy and in control. Couldn't be farther from the truth.

As for her hopes to be a star, meh. All or most kids want to be famous, it's just that she gets constant exposure to page 3 etc, so what else is she going to aspire to? & Lol @ irony of the article being in the Daily Mail, the propegator of these types of aspirations.

    Not fair to either

    1. Judge a little kid on her looks

    or

    2. Call her names because she's unfortunate enough to have parents who
aren't remotely interested in building her character.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,423 ✭✭✭tinkerbell

I think it's a disgrace. How the hell does she even know what a glamour model is at that age? When I was 11 I was still playing with dolls! Jees. They are destroying that child. How the hell can they afford all the stuff for her when they only earn £30k a year?!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,469 ✭✭✭Pythia

It's just the mother channeling her failed dreams of her own life into the kid. The mother had her at 17 or something if I recall so she probably didn't get to achieve whatever it was she wanted (page 3 or whatever).
