The Premiership kicks off this week, after a long summer rest - love it or hate it it certainly is popular and where most of best players play -Why oh why have a round of Internationals been scheduled the week before they go back , it is crazy , every year it seams to be creeping up closer to the season start date - surely players should be given a month back with their clubs before playing Internationals - I am wearily losing interest in International football , thanks to the pettiness of the likes of Misters Platini and Blatter

Jasus, a game a week before! How will the professional footballers manage that! They'll all be bolloxed by the time the premiership kicks off

At the end of the day it shouldn't bother the Irish players, like for tomorrow its only a 45 min flight back and its just like a training match anyway.

I can understand some friendlies where players from big leagues have to travel half way around the world.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 51,342 ✭✭✭✭That_Guy

It is absolutely crazy and some players do have to travel great distances around the world but for Ireland.... in particular Duff for us, only has to travel about an hour over and back. I'd rather have them play a full match than have a normal training session.

Heaven forbid that these professional millionaiure atheletes be asked to play a game of soccer for their country after a Summer's break.

Whatever about the strains that are being put on professional footballers, the thing that strikes me the most about this round of International matches is why on earth are Scotland playing a world cup qualifier this early in the season.

Their season has not begun and they are playing a country (Norway), away, who are in the middle of their domestic season. Any idiot can see the benefit that playing summer football has given the league of Ireland clubs against playing european teams still in pre-season, so the same will surely be the case with the Norwegian national team. If Scotland were to drop points, which I think they might, someone's head should roll over playing this game.

I think it is a case of tough **** for Scotland. It is not the Norwegians fault that Scotland play through the winter.

How many of the Norwegian side play their football in Norway?

After each group is drawn for a tournament the temas involved sit down and hammer out a schedule.
Usually the top seed as the most power at these meetings

This fixture was part of this horse trading process

Scotland may have sacrificed this game for a better fixture somewhere else on the schedule

datalo was on the pitch about 5 seconds!

The players obviously all love Diego judging by the reaction to the goal.

LOL Faroe Islands 0-1 France. Fair play to brian kerr. I even laughed when he took the job but that's unbelievable result for a country that size.

    Well done Faroes!

Watching the Scotland match here and Risse and Carew just had a little hug, which was nice to see, seeing as 2 years ago they had to be pulled off eachother on a bus to a game.
