Running with a blister

I have a blister on the side of one of my toes.

What's the best thing to do - stop and leave it heal or bandage it up and continue.

Usually run for 30mins four times a week on a treadmill.

It's a personal choice. Depending on how bad it is I'd bandage that up and keep going (I get blisters quite a bit, which is weird, cos I'd expect to have hard feet). You can get compeed blister pads in your local chemist. Anything that stopped the chaffing is good though. I've used duct tape a few times in a pinch.

oh, another excuse to post my favourite blister photo.... maybe not, just before teatime though :-)

I became somewhat of an expert on blisters earlier this year. There is no problem to run with one. It might feel sore for the first couple of minutes but then you generally don't notice any more.

If you want, steralise a needle, drain the blister (using 2 holes) and if it's a biggie, put iodine in it to "stick" the skin back on. Though this is probably overkill for a gym blister.

If you routinely get blisters, have a look at your shoes and socks. They're not something you should suffer from with moderate running
