if you dont have a credit card like myself, i like to use http://www.gamesbite.com/

They had a special offer before on 2100 microsoft points which was pretty much the same price as most other sites except you can pay via paypal.

Went for Live Codes rather than Games Bite purely because it was about a euro cheaper. Haha. Been about 10mins now and no sign of the code. Wondering if they only operate during business hours...

nar should be instant with my past experiences... you emailed them and checked your junk mail folder?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,593 ✭✭✭Soundman

Took 3 hours to come through in the end, from getting the receipt email to getting the code.

In between I had the idea that it might have been blocked by my CC company as they have done that on occasion. They see a transaction being made in the middle of the night to a website that they don't know and block it. Happened before when using Komplett or Elara. Wasn't them though.

All good now anyway. Wanted to get the points in advance of Shadow Complex coming out. Sure I might buy a few more things in the mean time. :D

I read this forum and decided I'd try out the Livecodes site... I've been waiting 24 hours and still no codes. In all fairness, the support has been pretty decent... but I was under the impression that I'd have my microsoft points by now.
Has anyone ever had this kinda trouble with them before?

Looking into it more, the problem seems to be with Google Checkout.. I've never used them before, so I've no idea how reliable they are.

Nope, always instant for me, did your payment clear?

Doesn't even appear to be getting that far... I've double checked by GoogleCheckout account, everything seems to be alright.

As I say, Livecodes customersupport has been pretty helpful so far... even goin as far as to giving me a small discount, as a gesture, on my purchase.

So i've no idea what the hold up is...

Your order isnt reviewing is it? When i first ordered i got a message from them saying my order was under review... but my order was sent about an hour later. But ever since its been instant.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 61 ✭✭noodlesmcfilthy

Yeah the review seems to be the problem... but it's literally been waiting for review since this time yesterday.
All I can do is wait really.. if it takes much longer I'll cancel and try that gamesbite site.

Well after numerous emails back and forth from Livecodes (those guys have really great customer support) it appears that GoogleCheckout is squarely to blame and I was advised by email to cancel the order... and to try again when I've sorted it out with Googlecheckout, but they haven't replied to my email.

I then went to Gamesbite and ordered the MSpoints for a couple of euro more, hoping that it would all happen a bit faster.. that was an 2 hours a go and I've still not recieved a code.

I appear to be having some pretty poor luck buying MSpoints online...
Does anyone know if Gamesbite only functions during working hours or something?

Ive just ordered from them again and code came within a few seconds.

I've been through a few different 'companies' trying to get gaming points and this is by far the best, always delivered right away. Pay with google checkout

Anybody use a laser with this site?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 31 tommylaws

    whats is laser?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 614 ✭✭✭blankblank

A laser card is a card similar to a credit card except the money is taken right out of your bank account as youmake tranactions, so its essentially a debit card.

Just checked there google checkout doesnt seem to accept laser so that rules Live-codes out anyways

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 61 ✭✭noodlesmcfilthy

Livecodes is a great site, completely safe.. the only problems I ran into was the huge delays with the Google checkout. The customer support at livecodes was extremely helpful though.. best online support I've seen.

Got this email from live-codes.com yesterday
Hi everyone, we hope you all have had a pleasant weekend. Just a quick e-mail to let you know that from the 1st September we will be a VAT registered company, this of course means we need to charge VAT on all our products.

We are trying our very best to keep our prices as low as possible when we charge VAT, you may however find that several of our products will increase in price very slightly. Some of our products will stay the same price, i'm sure most of you will be happy to hear that our 2100 MS Points is one of them.

Please bear with us from tomorrow evening, we may be low on stock. If you require anything (especially points) please make sure you get them early on to avoid disappointment. We will however upload the new stock at midnight.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank you all for your ongoing support and we hope to supply you with many more codes in the future.

    Thanks
    www.Live-Codes.com

Haha that is a possible solution dont tink i could afford to have a proper credit card tough just to buy microsoft points, id run into too much debt.

is there really a big difference between buyin online and buyin in a store like game etc?

Or is it just a matter of a euro or two?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,284 ✭✭✭RobertFoster

GAME and GameStop both sell 2100 points for €21.99. Live-Codes is £16.99, about €19-€20 after currency conversion and card charges. So, yeah, only a couple of euro in it.

If anyone's willing to wait for delivery, SentIt have 2100 cards for £15.89. Unlike the rest of The Hut group, they don't charge for shipping to Ireland.

I'd agree about GamePointsNow - they've always been prompt with delivery (you get an e-mail with the scan of the card with the Live Code / gold membership. I've never had to wait longer than a half an hour for my code.

Also, if you enter the voucher code "NTSC-UK" you get 50p off the price of a purchase. Yeah yeah - I know it's not much but as major retailer would have us believe 'every little helps' :)
