Last night, went home through town and took a snap up at Grand Canal One (I think that's what it's called)

Recently bought a house and rode the bike up there on Wednesday. 400 km of German Autobahn with heavy traffic. Watch out for trucks, they just don't see you and are prone to pulling out on top of you.
Bike preformed flawlessly, as mentioned in another thread I sometimes think she feels a little notchy, but rode her quite a bit and never a problem.

I know I've posted a few of it already but I'm still a bit blown away with how stunning this bike looks.

Sunk the bike half way up the frame in mud too.

Running Mitas E07+ on the rear at the moment, was great all weekend!

    Think it's time for a moto-camping thread?

I don't think I'd have gotten my GS back tbf !! I love my F650gs but I think thats going to be a road tourer more than a trail / oops no road tourer for a while!
I'll probally fit the Mitas to it too though and see how I get on.

By any chance did you buy that bike from a guy in Dublin 13 or Overlanders ? My mate had one the same and had done Dublin to Joburg on it. They're great bikes.

haha no, but Dad has the twin of Brian's bike, mines a 1996 DR, Brian and my Dad have / had 2014.
They both got them at the same time from Overlanders

    Goodness, it’s a small world 😉

    haha really is!
Brian did the South America trip with my Dad a few years ago.
Dad took a TDM 850 for that one.
He still thinks Brian should never have sold that DR, but they are not the most comfortable bike off the shop floor
I wonder who bought the bike when he traded it in, theres a good Chance Derek is sitting on it though
I've the stock seat off Dad's 2014 bike on this one and he has the original seat from this bike but with seat concepts foam and cover. Huge difference!

It's nice, few small things to do but very minor, I'm loosing the poxy mirrors and going either stock or smoked on the screen, the tornosol is nice but it's not for me

Had coffee with Brian this morning. He said the same thing about not selling the DR. I'd forgotten your Dad had a few of the DR's. He sold it to a private buyer so Overlanders don't have their mitts on it

Thats a beauty! Love the matt finish and red.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,242 ✭✭✭goblin59

If you've met Dad you know he never gets rid of bikes xD
The 1996 one I have was built from spare parts he bought over the years to keep the Aussie import going incase it had issues as he bought it blind off the internet from someone who just finished doing a RTW trip.
He said the same thing about not selling the DR.

Haha didn't enjoy it at all? or thought Dad should have sold his too?

ah thats a shame to not know where it went then, I definitely haven't seen it out on any of the forums or facebook pages
I do really like the Overlanders shop, great customer service in there and good for a chat about setting up for touring. They definitely love their adventure bikes
